hahaha, yes, I've noticed. GO GO Goodison

I hope someday to be able to attend an Everton game. My wife and I are planning a trip to the UK and Ireland in 2 years. I am going to try like hell to schedule it when Everton are home

here's two UK based sites that have everton message boards on them, you can also look at other clubs boards too , if you want to talk about a game or take the p#ss!

footymad (http://boards.footymad.net)

rivals (http://everton.rivals.net)

look for the message boards and the best way to look at them is by clicking the little 'display by' thing on the top left hand side and choosing 'topic' it gets confusing otherwise.

the language and abuse can get a bit colourful so be warned!!

Yo Monkeyhead. those sites are awesome! thanks dude.

I need a favor though. Can you translate something into American for me? hahaha. I'm serious. I can read English but I have no freaking idea what this dude just said. here it is

"To be fair, Tottenham usually bring a good turnout to Goodison although their support these days, like most Southern clubs, seems to consist of wacky tits in replica tops and Pop Idol barnets (like that whopper off Sky) who love a bit of 'banter', whatever the ******** that means."

Specifially, I need to know exactly what a TIT Is and which person from SkySports their talking about

monkeyhead

a tit is just a general insult meant in the same sort of way as dick or knobhead etc, (although it describes a bit of female anatomy it is usually applied to blokes)

not sure who the Sky 'whopper' is though, i'll see if i can find out, what site and thread was it on?

he are some of the biggest local derbies in the premiership.

Everton vs Liverpool
Tottenham vs Arsenal
Man Utd vs Man City
Southampton vs Portsmouth
Aston Villa vs Birmingham City

Also, Newcastle vs. Middlesbrough

These are just the derbies. There are some that still hate each other even if they arent even in the same town.

Arsenal vs Manchester United
Leeds vs Manchester United (not as bad)

there's a few pics on my site showing the Pompey vs Southampton Derby
click on the picture down on the left marked 'Scum'
it'll give you an idea of how intense our rivalry can get, (there's not many ones of the actual violence due to all the arrests from video and pictorial evidence so people were understandably wary of giving them out)

Feel the love. Honestly, Why Soton and not another Southcoast club? There are plenty of clubs in the South of England.....why do Pompey HATE the Saints so much in particular? Past match results? Thanks for the info.

LOL, I actually wasn't trying to make a joke, a Chelsea smile really is some sort of Hooligan act involving sticking a credit in your opponents mouth.

From Urban Dictionary

1. chelsea smile link send redefine 12 up, 3 down

To slice the mouth on either side then kneeing the victim in the groin causing the mouth to tear. Popular in British prison.I'm gonna give that nonce a chelsea smile.
Source: pippa from home and away, Apr 18, 2003
2. Chelsea Smile link send redefine 1 thumb up

A torturing term used all around the world but originating in Chelsea. The victim's hands are tied or held and the sides of there mouth are cut slightly breaking the strong lip structure. The victim is then kicked very hard in the nuts or in the case of a woman a leg is broken and as the victim screams the cuts rip creating the Chelsea Smile. That (**********) been sleeping with my wife, give him a Chelsea Smile.
Source: James Spencer, Harrogate, Jun 7, 2005
3. Chelsea Smile link send redefine 2 thumbs down

To place the open mouth of any person, excluding Chelsea Londoners on the kerbing of a road and stamp on the back of the victim's head, causing their cheek skin to tear and bleed. This followed by a kicking to the face and/or chest/stomach.I'll give that Daz a ********in 'chelsea smile' outside the chippy after the match.

It goes back to a dockers strike in Portsmouth in the late '40s when the Portsmouth dockers went on strike labour was hired from Southampton to replace them and so the nickname given by Portsmouth fans to Southampton fans is scummers or just scum, Southampton fans call Portsmouth fans skates after the fish.

going back to the 80's when boro beat chelsea over 2 legs in the old play-off system to be promoted to the old first division, there were a few boro fans who got chelsea smiles at stamford bridge. this had nothing to do with credit cards, but a stanley knife! each side of the mouth cut then being punched or kicked in groin or stomache area. anyway the trouble at that game started off a massive rivalry between the two sets of fans that lasted years, even to this day the "old style" fans of each team have a certain hatred for each other but the modern day chelsea or boro fan wont realise the rivalry. at boro we are a north-eastern team so newcastle or sunderland are our rivals although we obviously are not as important to either of them as fading each other. if hartlepool or darlington were in our league there would be a big rivalry but as they arent we have to make to with the geordies or mackems. they will claim we arent their rivals unless they manage to beat us then they want to be our biggest rival.

my opinion on the biggest rivalry has to be the old firm game in scotland although i think they take it too far, i mean they bring religion and politics into our sport which we really dont need IMO. the atmosphere at these games though is something else, i was lucky enough to get to one a couple of years ago at parkhead. something else. to hear those celtic fans sing fields of athenry was amazing. in england i would have to say the newcastle v sunderland game or the southampton v portsmouth game is where i have seen the most pure hatred of each other. anyway just my opinion on the subject.

I don't think they got the old Chelsea smiles, but they did break down the barriers and charge across the field to attack our fans and players...

Even the Chelsea stewards were having a go at the Boro fans back then, and did little to help them.

I don't see the intense rivalry from years back, unless you are counting that 7-2 at Ayresome some years back in the 70's...

Some of the older, hardcore fans hate Chelsea for that afternoon in London. Absolute pigs they were.
