Dave Chappelle is spreading his wings further into the feature film arena.

Comedian has teamed up with "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" helmer Michel Gondry to produce and star in an untitled feature to be directed by Gondry.

Pic, whose exact content is being kept under wraps is based on an idea by Chappelle and will combine music and comedy.

It was inspired by "Wattstax" a documentary of a nonstop seven-hour musical event in August 1972 at the Los Angeles Coliseum that starred soul, R&B and gospel artists and was hosted by comedian Richard Pryor.

Though the Chappelle pic won't be a concert film, Chappelle will emcee and do standup and scripted comedy. Pic will have a documentary aspect to it with some of the musical and comedy elements to be filmed live from the musical and comedy event that will take place in New York. Pic will start shooting later this month on location in Brooklyn.story here (http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story2&u=/variety/20040908/va_fi_ne/chapelle_teams_with_gondry_on_pic)

You might know Gondry from his music videos (www.palmpictures.com/videos/theworkofdirectormichelgondry.html) and his commercials (he recently did the Diet Coke campaign with Adrian Brody and Kate Beckinsale). Whatever comes out of this, it should be fun.

Damn. I was hoping Dave's next movie would be either "You've Got Mail 2: The Black Sidekick's Revenge" or "Con Air 2: Dead Black Men Rise From The Grave To Kick A Badly Accented Nic Cage's Ass".

So apparently, the Chappelle/Gondry project is the "block party" this Saturday (http://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?t=135706).

If you're like me and don't have tickets but you want to crash the concert, the party bus is leaving the Pathmark in Chinatown at 11:30 am.
