the best player in the EPL has to be Thierry Henry

He's fast, skillful and most importantly he can score

Agreed, THeirry Henry right now is the best in the league.

Agreed he is the most significant player in the league over the past 18 months. Bit of a mystery why he seems to be pants when he plays for France on the larger stage.

The setup he's in at Arsenal is geared around him, while the engine of France remains Zidane. It'll take a while to move towards Henry. Which may not be as simple as it sounds, Henry's got an ego to match his skills.

5th best, maybe. Not even the best American.

Friedel's the best American. Howard WILL eventually take that title and if early returns mean anything, he might end up taking best in the world honors, but not yet. He makes to many tactical errors that cause strife at the back. Still much to learn.

I concur, Thierry Henry.

Lets put it this way, if you bottomless pockets and could only buy one player I think everyone would buy him.

How do think he would compare to previous EPL players (just sticking to EPL, not old div.1) eg. Shearer, Cantona?

Yours is the "homer" view. I saw the Rovers/ManU game on FSW and Friedel was magnificent. He probably was the single greatest force in USA's WC success last time out. Why is he at Rovers? His transfer fee would be too high?

Best defender - ????

Best Keeper - Friedel

Defender: Sol....perhaps Rio when he's match fit (aka not suspended).

Keeper: Niemi....based on last year. Van der Saar is right up there despite gifting that goal to Reyes last year.

Technically Gallas is the best defender in the league. The least goals were conceded when he was on the pitch, and the most clean sheets were accumulated.

the difficulty in supporting any view that this defender or that is best is that the netminder ultimately is the person who stops most of the shots, so the contribution to the cleansheet is shared. you might argue that sol campbell is better, because lehmann is really a second tier tender, yet the gunners went undefeated.

the gallas argument is a cogent one, since he was supporting ambrosio in many matches, who cannot be considered a topline goalie. still gallas did profit from cudicini, who may be thought superior to lehmann, overall.

I agree with that he is very underrated but along with terry they prove to be a very good parntership

Sounds like someone has Gallas on their fantasy football squad.... :D

You're right though, he's quite good and was hoping Arsenal would be successful in stealing him....right before the Roman revolution.

If you're an attorney representing that site....err...no...it isn't. :p

Yes. A sub sandwich chain around here (and other places I believe) called Quizno's used them in ads called "We love da Subs..." Very bizarre and very hilarious but they were eventually pulled. Apparently, Quiznos decided that people didn't like little rat-like creatures to be associated with food. Who'da thunk it?

Are you on drugs or something? Do you honestly think Gabriel Ivan Heinze, Francesc Fabregas, Chris Kirkland, Robin Van Persie, Dennis Bergkamp and Joe Cole is some of the best players in Premier League?
If so, its not weird no one thinks Primera Division and Serie A is better.

I could go on forever Jens Lehmann.....every goalkeeper in your rank besides Peter Cech is not so good, come on Pa Dembo Tourray is better.

Yes they are 'some' of the best players in the league. His list was stupid though given the question.

Do you even watch football? I remember Cech having a pretty good Euro 2004 while Lehmann is a running joke over here.
