Chris Bailey. This is the same guy who talked all over BS about how his girlfriend was cheating on him, and then was stupid enough to post a picture of her. Lowecifer had a field day. Please, oh please, let someone have a few of these pics saved somewhere.

It's a legitimate thread. La Norte is usually more empty than full. Three seasons in, and the "magic" of the first few games disappeared rather quickly. There have been the occasional games where the section has rocked, but usually it's just a big drum and a couple of handfuls of supporters.

That's not to say the V-Army has much to talk about, either. They've pretty much run everyone else out of Section 137. I thought one objective of supporter's groups was to "grow" the group and the fan base, not alienate and drive off other fans.

Unfortunetly I think that was pre-crash. Bottom line is ONE Norteņo is worth 20 of those yellow wankers.

To diss V-Army you could post their best pic and it would still be funny :)

it's kinda silly to talk about size of groups in North America for next 10-20 years... tho we might need a thread on that :D

Two be honest? 9 years in, and "supporter's groups" in MLS have - at best - treaded water. With an average MLS crowd of 15,000, I'd put the average "supporters group" crowd at less than 150 or less than 1%. Even in Chicago, the bastion of supporter-friendliness, the percentages after 7 years are pretty insignificant compared to the total crowd - and even less so when you figure that most supporters opt for the cheap seats, and some even get breaks beyond that.

What's the difference between Barra Brava and La Norte?

About 20 sections. La Norte originally came from La Barra. They moved behind the goal to do their own thing. We're still brothers at heart.

What's the difference between Barra Brava and La Norte?LaNorte is behind the north goal. A looser knit group, a bit younger.
Barra Brava and the Screaming Eagles sit at midfield for more of a TV presence and so the players on the field can actually hear us.
The goalies can definitely hear (and feel the TP rolls from) La Norte :D

The big difference: When stuff is thrown out of LaNorte, security picks it up and gives it back to them. When things come flying out of the Barra, someone is getting thrown out ;)
Assuming of course that the first is rolls of TP or streamers

9 years is not that long tho, for a country that has never seen much in a way of organized support. It has to be part of collective conscience that it's ok to come to stadium and support the team with more than a golf clap, and be part of game and share in a win and loss and feel passion. You just have to slowly increase % of population that thinks that way... not everyone in Argentina or Italy is this way, just higher percentage than in US... so cities 100x smaller than DC metropolitan area have larger supporter base to draw from.

Maybe to most people it seems boring, or maybe they're too self conscious, or maybe we could do better job recruiting. I guess you kinda need to have something to make you want to go and scream your lungs out whole game.

I'd give up all the banners and drums and pyro and flags and whatever in trade for 1000 people that come to game to sing 90 minutes. Because once you have the numbers it's far easier to do build on with other fun stuff (otherwise you just have lots of people... *yawn*england*yawn* :D ).

Maybe if they put up a stripper pole in middle of 135... :D

"Pocos pero locos..."

I'm pretty sure DC United would rather have 2 people chanting their hearts out for them, then hundreds of people sitting there, doing nothing but watching...

La Norte might be small.. and have gotten smaller as the years gone by, but we're trying to change all of that... I'm a new Norteno, and I'm trying everything I can to bring that section back to form.. or get it to form for the first time.. Weather it's by keeping the website updated or going to the games to sing my ass off..

All it really takes is heart, dedication and love for the game and DC United.. if a supporter group has that, it will grow.. sometimes fast, sometimes slow.. but it will grow..

I wanted to go and reply to that post but why bother? Like someone said in this threat earlier.. Who cares what "1" f'n wanker thinks? or 10000000 of them? f'k them all...

I don't know what I've said.... but I think I've said something...

PS: BTW I tape the home games.. Sure I can hear the Barra and the Eagles, and I don't know about you all, BUT I can sure hear La Norte too... We're few, but loud... We might not get shown on TV that much, and the players might not even give us that much love after or during the game.. but they know we're out there.. They can hear us... and even better.. Opposing team can hear us and I bet you one thing, all the MLS goalies f'n hate us. :D

oooooooooooOOOOOOOOOOOOO YOU SUCK **************!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I pulled them from my webserver. I may have them backed up at home though.

I kind of felt bad for the dope.

Would the three groups ever join so that a real difference be made or is everyone content being small/seperate/but bring something different to the table? Didnt the Fire used to have 3 different groups but they all joined forces and now they are pretty impressive. It seems like this makes the most difference but I dont live in DC so I can't say.

Well, 2 of the 3 groups are side by side, so BB & SE are arranged in a similar fashion to Section 8 in Chicago. La Norte feels strongly about being at the North End of RFK, so I don't think they will be moving to the sideline.

Not to mention that we've grown quite fond of the CSC in 135 over the years.

Barra and Eagles each are bigger than most groups in US (not that that's saying much :D ). I'm sure LN have a good reason to be behind the goal :)
