Okay, I have no idea about the team Dommench will go for....He has to change it....

This is a must win for France. Failure to do so, will result in the NT becoming a laughing stock. Although the Faroes are made of stronger stuff nowadays, they are still a team France should comfortably beat.....

I'm going for 3-0 France....to ease concerns and get back into the groove.... :)

Lequipe, aujourd'hui....

Mi-figue, mi-raisin

okay, stab in the dark.....

GK: Coupet - played well, didn't have much to do will do a good job for Les Blues.

DR: Mendy - again, I would drop him but who for, perhaps put Gallas on the right.

DC: Squillaci - lets play the two Monaco pairings together, they know each better.

DC: Givet or Gallas, depends

DL: Evra - gets forward.....

ML: Rothen, needs delivery but is useless without a target man, henry is not good enough for this.

MR: Pires - play him, no question.....

MC: Vieria - another underachiver against Israel, but is still the captain and world class.

MC: Guily - play him in the centre behind the front two, in a playmaking role, not on the right...he is ineffective there.

FC: Henry - play deep behind your strike partner, not up front as a lone target man....

FC:Cisse - better than Saha and will be able to combine his power and pace...

Cisse looks to be playing against Faroe Islands. I'm looking for him to play really well in this game. If France is going to get back into a scoring groove, he's going to have to step up to the plate, and I have a feeling that he's pretty hungry to prove himself as a great scorer for "new Bleus".

Its 1 nil to France at half time.
Giuly scored the goal in the 32nd minute.
Unconvincing, but against a team like the Faroes all that matters is tat France wins. But take into consideration that 4 days ago this team lost 6 nil to the Swiss... France still very rusty, but we ll see what happens in the second half.

Finished 2-0.

Saha off after 9 minutes due to injury, Cisse on.
Giuly makes it 1-0 on 32 minutes.
Vieira get second yellow on 50 minutes and is sent packing.
Henry taken off for Dhorasso (sp?) on 64 minutes.
Cisse makes it 2-0 on 73 minutes.
Game over.

Team was:

------------------ Coupet
---------- Gallas - Squillaci - Givet
Pedretti ---------------------------- Evra
---------- Giuly --- Vieira ----- Pires
--------------- Saha - Henry

I'm not sure on the tactics, so it's a guess! Correct if wrong. :o

Guily had a good game, a goal and an assist. I wonder if the team is starting to get used to the new formation, seems like they had a pretty weak start but got better as the game progressed. If Viera hadnt been taken out on a red card they may have had more goals.
But why is Titi Henry struggling so much to score with the national team? He hasnt scored for Les Bleus in a long time. Is it some kind of mental block or is the EPL really so much different?

Maybe the EPL makes Henry look better than he really is?

On the international stage Henry has consistently failed to deliver. Henry was absent in World Cup 2002 and Euro 2004.

Now Zidane has retired. People can't make the excuse Zidane is stifling Henry.

In next two years we'll find out if Henry is really a great player or just media hype.

Does anyone know who captained France when Vieira was sent off? Henry ? If so, who captained when he was subbed, Pires?

I'm sure Pires was captain at the end. No idea if he was given it straight after the red card or not.
