Kangnam Yeok



I remember hanging out in Kangnam Yeok and meeting friends in front of that New York Bakery place. Is it still there? I think it was right next to a subway entrance.

pictures of my old elementary school Chungdam Elementary and Shinku middle school along with pictures of Seoul Station/KTX(bullet train), Daehak-Ro, Hongdae, Myeong Prefecture, Shinchon, Chungdam Prefect., Southgate, Gwangha Gate, Chunghwadae(The Blue House), Gyeongju and its ancient Silla kingdom temples, Jeju Islands, Mt. Halla, and the DMZ.

I remember in my youth (geez, I sound like an old geezer at 27) my native Korean friends took me to the nightclubs in that area. I"m sure they're all gone by now (the nightclubs that is, not my Korean buddies :D)

I've been spending a lot of time on this board because of the memories you've brought back by all these photos. My dating life took me to a lot of these places and from Kangnam-yeok to COEX down Teheran-ro, you've managed to make me nostalgic. She's there in Seoul and since she works in front of the City Air Terminal, we often met in Samsungdong. I worked across from Intercontinental at Princeton Review one summer. Thanks for the pics. Great shots.

My former elementary school, Chungdam Elementary. At the time, school was hell because of the beat downs from our teacher. Whenever any of us slacked on our morning assignments before he got there, he would line us up in front of class and do his trademark, pinch the cheek really hard, rotate our face from the grip, and then punch to the face followed by several hard whacks to our asses with his custom made paddle.

But looking back, I have more fond memories than bad. Even the beat downs from our teacher has become a thing to be nostalgic about. I remember getting into fights almost on a daily basis, tormenting girls in our class, going around the classroom during lunch and sharing between my friends, going to our city's indoor swimming parks, going to arcades only for our teacher to track us down and give us more beatings after waiting for us from outside, trying to avoid the Jubons in 5th grade who were 6th grade school "enforcer" given cart blanche to catch unruly kids, and ripping off stationary shops through the 외상 policy. Ah, the memories.
