I've read Songdo will be an amazing architectural wonder once the city is completed.

New Songdo City (NSC) project is the most massive project ever taken in Korea. NSC is located in Incheon, Korea's 4th largest city situated in the western tip of Korean peninsular. Here's a rough rendering of the master plan.

Note that the buildings depicted in the rendering aren't necessarily be the same when constructured, rather the buildings will be much more detailed and pretty, like this one below.

Check this awesome video clip. It's about Songdo New City. It lasts for 10 minutes. It's like a short movie. Some main characters appeared in this movie and they go around and show places like CBD, airports, Financial district, residential district and Theme park. :)

The clip doesnt work. I want to play simcity now.

Song-do (Yeong Jong-do) shouldn't just be an architectural admiration. Honestly, Seoul is an ugly gray city that was built by the Japanese (which explains the crappy roads and the ugly buildings that still exist today in downtown Seoul - Gwanghwamun, City Hall, Jong-ro, Myung-dong, Namdaemun ect. However, in the midsts of un-coordination of Gang-buk and Gang-nam, which was actually developed according to plan, meaning better roads, buildings ect, the skyline of Seoul, even if i do contradict myself, is beauty and splendor itself. I have travelled to many cities around the world but the Seoul skyline was the best.

But Skyline doesnt mean jack to me. Song-do is being built for an economic re-unification with North Korea and as long as that happens, I could care less about racially re-unifying again with North Korea. Song-do is in itself, the future of South Korea and now with the KTX - TSR -TSA (?) expansion to North Korea, Siberia, China, and Europe, Song-do can only be Asia's new Hong Kong.

Good-bye Hong Kong. You were a marvelous city with a fabulous skyline.
Good-bye Tokyo, you were an ugly city only with cleaner streets than Seoul.
Good-bye Seoul, may all you needless Gyeong-sang and Jeon-la fools return home.

Say Hello, Song-do.

Song-do, this is Shanghai. Shanghai, this is Song-do. Hope you guys work together well :)

ah...........

i miss Hanguk :(

Seoul is a cool city. Plus, i really like the fact that their public transportation system makes it easy to not have a car (unlike here in LA where a car is a MUST)

oh... and the food... *drool*! i remember eating at a corner soot-bul galbi place near my cousin's house in Shillim-dong (Kwanak-gu). i thought all galbi tasted the same. NO way. Galbi in Korea is like way better (duh~ haha)

Good-bye Seoul, may all you needless Gyeong-sang fools return home.

Hey kiss my @$$ you doshi sibhalnom!

You know who I really feel sorry for though? The people who emigrated to the US in search of a better life. Or those who went to Germany. I guess that's what you get for lacking faith.

Here are some spectacular pictures of Incheon International Airport. The IIA is located close to New Songdo City, aka NSC in Incheon. "Business Traveller Asia-Pacific" recently selected IIA as the world's third best airport after Changi Airport in Singapore and Chek Lap Kok Airport in Hong Kong.

IIA is a brand new airport built on 5,610 hectares of reclaimed land. The airport opened its doors to the world in the year 2001. The airport is currently the world's fourth largest airport in terms of cargo traffic, handling 2.02 million metric tons (including carry-ons and mail) last year alone and it hit passenger volume of 30 million last year and will increase its passenger capacity to 100 million by the year 2020.

The construction hasn't been completed. Phase 2 of the IIA construction began in 2002 and is due for completion in 2008 when airport capacity is set to increase to 410,000 flights/yr serving 44 million passengers/yr and processing cargo volumes of 4.5 million t/yr. After Phase 2 is completed, Phase 3 of the construction will begin.

Go Incheon! Go Bucheon! ( My city is just arm's legnth away from Incheon ) :-)

Okay, Korea's 4th largest city, Incheon's got the NSC project.

What about Busan?

The second largest city in Korea with a population of 4 million? Here's the Centum City Project. http://www.centumcity.com/_english/home.htm

I personally have never heard of this Centum City before. Sorry to break it down to you Busanites but Busan is a very crowded and polluted city. Its horrible. Anyway, is this being built next to Gimhae?

It's time to introduce some projects undergoing in small-sized cities.

First up, Hwaseong.

I don't even know where this place is located in Korea! Anyways, here's the redevelopment plan of the CBD area in Hwaseong. The city has a poulation of only about 200,000.
