If you dont live in Korea for whatever reason, how often do you go back and visit? Why do you go back and visit or why don't you go back and visit? What are the most positive/negative experiences when you go back? Do you guys also have a military service that you have to commit?

Twice in the last 29 years.
Both times, it was my wife's wish since she has friends & relatives there.
Most positive experiences = views, scenaries, visiting cool places, food.
Least postive experiences = in-laws, in-laws, and more in-laws I've never met before. Getting stuck in a Korean tour (5 days) with rowdy Korean kids with no manner and their parents refusing to do anything ...
Military service committment = N/A

Korean Americans usually only visit Korea for special occassions during the holidays, breaks, or to visit relatives. Their roots are firmly placed in America.

true.. i only visited korea one time and that was back in 2002 couple months after World Cup.. but dayam.. those were the 2 best weeks of my friggin pointless life.. korea is waaaaaaaay better than usa.. i swear if i had to pick between korea and usa, id pick korea if only i could speak korean as well as the fobs here.. i mean my cousin his dad owned a restaurant near a pc bang and it was like heaven.. my cousin haram had special connections with the pc bang owner and the pc bang owner could come to my cousins restaurant anytime and order anything for free and in return my cousin and some of his friends could go to his pc bang the whole nite till morning and he'd give us like cup lamyun and everything.. i miss korea so much.. the korean pc bangs in america arent bad except not all of them (i guess excluding NY, LA, and other places packed wit koreans) dont open their pc bang all nite.. the ones in dc do, but they're like $5 an hour.. in korea its like $0.5 to $1..
and tickets to like lotte world and everland are friggin cheaper than Kings Dominion, Six Flags, Disneyland and World.. ive been to all of them and sadly, Everland is better than those places.. even the arcades are better.. you could play games for $0.10 in american money.. and the food is da bomb.. eating duk bbuk ee on a cold winter day in an outdoor vendor.. ah.... and K-League, dont get me started on K-League.. tickets are like $3.. tickets for DC United are like $15..

you kno what, ********** this im hitchin a ride to korea

taken from trekearth.com (great website where people post their pictures from around the world.) I wish these were my pictures. However, all my photo gear was stolen last year along with the laptop where i stored all my non-family/friends pictures and haven't gotten a chance to replace them (i.e. go to korea again).

no...if go you along the coast, especially closer to the dmz, they're all walled up and lined with barbed wire. there's this one rest stop on the highway from sokcho down to ulsan (can't remember the name of the rest stop, but it was about an hour and half south of sockcho) where there's this beautiful, isolated beach, if they only let you on the beach. just behind it, there are these cement barriers simliar to those in front of all federal buildings, only larger, lined with wire. it's just like the drive up to the dmz from seoul where the banks of the rivers are lined with guardposts and fences and pillboxes.
