Canada TV Soccer lists FSWC having Italian league matches this year, what's the deal? I love all footy, but to be honest I'd rather have the two EPL Sunday games then these Italian matches(if this link is to be believed).

So, what is happening, are we really getting Serie A matches?

P.S BRING BACK SKY!!!!!!!!!!

Looks like Global/FSWC did a "cheap" deal with Gol TV and TeleLatino to re-air the TeleLatino Serie A matches.

EPL is becoming way too expensive for Global/FSWC, which doesn't have the distribution yet to compete against the big boys (TSN/RDS, Sportsnet).

Rogers Sportsnet gets first dibs on EPL in Canada because Sportsnet is willing to pay millions of dollars for those rights and Sportsnet is able to sell advertising on EPL.

(FOX owns 20% of Sportsnet.)

Note that provincial lotteries (at least in Ontario and BC) accept wager "action" on EPL matches.

da_cfo's rule on TV sports: if one can bet on it, then it sells.

Sportsnet also used "first refusal" to acquire FOX's NASCAR package, as well as F-1 in select parts of Canada (to air on SPEED Channel Canada, along with the NASCAR Truck Series). This according to a poster on a racing board who lives in Ontario.

(TSN/RDS owns the rights to F-1 in Quebec and most of the NBC/TNT NASCAR package except for big markets, where Craig Media holds the rights to the NBC races).

Sounds like Global and FSI are generally going their separate ways.

FSI will probably either pick up "Soccer Central" from Sportsnet, ask MSG Network to produce an international soccer show from NYC, or produce a show from LA.

Add Loto-Quebec to the list of provincial lotteries.

It's good to see some italian matches (even on lenghty tape-delay), but FSWC seems to be throwing in the towel. Imagine if GolTv would have been accepted.

No more are SkySports News... :(
No more is the second Sunday EPL game :(
The French game is the same as TV5, but on 2 hrs later :(

i miss: the 2nd EPL game on sunday/ Sky sports News/the Dutch League.

i love: Serie A!/brazilian league/the german & french league highlight shows/the EPL.

i dislike: the "identikit" league 1 game, i'd rather watch the french broadcast. bloody rugby & aussie rules:).
