I hope I'm not the only one excited about this film:

This movie is an adaptation of a journal written by Ernesto "Che" Guevara (who's played by Gael Garcia Bernal) when he was 23 years old. He and his friend, Alberto Granado (played by Rodrigo de la Serna) are typical college students who, seeking fun and adventure before graduation, decide to travel across Argentina, Chile, Brazil and Peru in order to do their medical residency at a leper colony. Beginning as a buddy/road movie in which Ernesto and Alberto are looking for chicks, fun and adventure before they must grow up and have a more serious life. As is said in the film itself, it's about "two lives running parallel for a while." These two best friends start off with the same goals and aspirations, but by the time the film is over, it's clear what each man's destiny has become.

This movie has gotten a lot of praise, and will likely be nominated for an Oscar (Best Foreign Film, at least). Oh, and it turns out that actor Rodrigo De La Serna is actually the real-life cousin of Che Guevara!

I love this movie's Tagline: "Let the world change you... and you can change the world"

It comes out in NY & LA on Sept. 24th. I'm not sure exactly when it comes out Nationwide.

Yes, I've been looking forward to this one for a while. The landscape shots look amazing, and it'll interesting to see a story about Che from a different perspective.

But seriously, is Bernal in like every single critically-acclaimed Spanish movie these days?

It seems that way. He's worked in 2 of my favorite movies of all time: "Amores Perros" & "Y tu mama tambien". He's going to star in another movie this year that's getting great reviews, "La Mala Educacion" (Bad Education).

I watched the trailer today. It starts in with the "Before the fame, Before the ....... "
And I'm thinking "Before the mass killing in the name of asinine economic theories."
