Just saw it tonight at the theaters and man did I tear-up frequently throughout the entire movie. The ending was just so tragic and yet so beautiful in showing the sacrifice a brother makes for his younger brother.

Both Won Bin and Jang Dong-Gun hit homeruns with their acting. They felt genuine and full of conviction and were the reason why my tears were pouring out like a geyser.

Amazing movie..I just came back from watching this movie.. very touching and emotional.
Its rated R, cuz of very graphic violence scenes, but main theme of movie is anti war, and it made me realize value of freedom and family.
Hasnt anyone seen yet?

It's playing at a local theater down here. For those of us that don't speak Korean very well, it's got subtitles, right?

Why is the trailer on the official site using music from "2009: Lost Memories"?

I really want to see this film. Western media has given it good reviews, too.

I'm assuming when they cut the trailer, the score was still unfinished and they had to use a temp track for it.

The 2009 score is definitely generic crap. The real original score for Taegukgi is amazing.

Can listen to the entire OST here:

Definitely recommend the following tracks - 13, 7, 22, 23, 24, 8, 12

Yeah, the 2009 soundtrack was so generic you could almost tell what sort of notes were coming up on the first listen. The composer was trying too hard to create some sort of Hans Zimmer-esque, sprawling, epic theme and it resembled the 'Gladiator' theme a bit too closely for my liking.

Are the tracks on that site available for download? Where do I click? *is not Korean so can't navigate the site*

Silmido was one of the worst movies I've ever seen. No exaggerations here. Thought it was terrible.

well on quality of movie, silmido is well below average in western standard IMO, but that movie had unique story line you wont find anywhere else. I think that was reason why that movie got popular in S.Korea.

Yes I watched it but I managed to hold my feelings back.
There was one girl who was dragged to the washroom by her friends and she was crying uncontrollably.

But the movie's simply a heck of a lot more personal for us than anything the Americans would make.

Remember there is a 6.25 memorial that has a bronze statue of a North Korean and South Korean soldier hugging. The story is that they were brothers seperated during the conflict and by chance met each other while fighting for opposite sides. Also in the statue neither are carrying rifles (I think) because they had thrown them down. The final part of the movie I believe is based on this statue which was apparently based on multiple true stories.

I brought an American friend who's got an adopted sister from Korea along to watch the movie.
