Like I said in the pre-game thread, Nellie said "It was like three or four months of just non-stop pain"...I mean we all know he is tough, but that is just showing off.

The club suffered another setback this week when newly acquired midfielder Tim Lawson, who has been recovering from a strained quadriceps, suffered a second-degree ankle sprain and will be sidelined a couple weeks. He has yet to make an appearance after signing three weeks ago.
This guy is already off to a bad start...
Just out of curiousity... Does this team actually conduct ********ing physicals before they sign players?

United Coach Peter Nowak, however, took a coy approach to Nelsen's availability. He did acknowledge that Nelsen would make the trip to Chicago, but "we played pretty good [on defense] the last couple of weeks and there's no reason to change anything. The way we're going to play is going to be the same."
Asked if he thought Nelsen would play, Nowak said, "I don't think so."
Facing a forward combo of Jaqua-Capano (Ralph and Selolwane away on WC duty), I guess Nowak feels that a Petke-Namoff-Prideaux backline will do just fine. Nelsen probably will come in during the second half when Petke suffers his usual leg injury. With all of the players who are injured, suspended, or away on WC duty, the Fire line-up is depleted at best:
G - Countess (played Wednesday in the win over KC)
CD - Curtin
CD - Brown
RB - Gray
LB - Perez/Griffin
DM - Pause
CM - Marsch
RM - Boucicout/Buete
LM - Mapp
F - Jaqua
F - Capano
A tie against this line-up would feel like a loss.

You can say that again. We really need the three points from this game, not only for the three points (which ARE important at this point in the season), but more importantly for the team to demonstrate that it is capable of winning on the road. I think it would do wonders for the team psyche to show more than 1 road win (on an own-goal, no less) prior to the playoffs.
We need to win, and it would help tremendously to win big.

Just out of curiousity... Does this team actually conduct ********ing physicals before they sign players?Bad start? It's par for the course. Seems we can only pick up injured international vets, or out of shape latin "playmakers". Every player over the past couple of years has some sort of drama involved, whether it's Kuffor and his work permit, Alegria and his visa problems, Martins and his, what, 2 games played, Adu, the league show pony, Cerritos and why did they bother, Q1, Q2, Convey, Nelsen, Petke the list goes on. And even the "rookies" Gros and Namoff seem to be the only reliables on the team, and that's a sad statement considering they've missed time as well.
DC United, it's a freakin' soap opera.
Thx,
Jay!
