That would be the best name for the club, it revives a great MLS team from the past and gives me something to cheer for.
Seriously.... I think the best name for the team would be Salt Lake Wanderers. It is a traditional name and has ties to the region's history. Plus it is way cooler, than Real Salt Lake. Even Salt Lake Mutiny is better than Real Salt Lake.

Salt Lake City is in a mountain valley at about 4500 ft above sea level. Looking at Utah (utes means people of the mountains, so Utah=top of the mountains, or something to that effect) topographically it is very much in the "Highlands" of the United States. Also many of the Latter-Day Saint convert imigrants (approx 32,000) were from Great Britain, many from Scotland. There were also many Britains that works for the railroad and mining companies in the west. Many people in Utah have ancestry from that part of the world.

Maybe "Mutiny" would be appropriate if we wanted to pay tribute to our recent Republican gubernatorial caucus...........
Back in 2002, at those temporary pin trading shops & stands, I saw a couple of 1996 Mutiny pins for sale. I bought one. I think there are a few closet Bat fans around here.

If we want to go by people's ancestry then the team has to be the vikings or something like that. I mean, there's only about five people in the state who's name doesn't end in -sen.

As these things go, there are different ways of measuring the highest state of the union. If you take the highest point from each county, Utah's the highest.
