Oh gee, this comes as a complete shock. Ole Watermelon head is feeling ill because he was on the juice? He should go cry on Lyle Alzado's dead shoulder. F'ing cheater deserves everything coming his way.

That seems a bit harsh and melodramatic.
Nonetheless, the guy's career is effectively over, and the Yankees are stuck with his huge salary. And by over, I don't mean that he can't come back. I mean he'll be the middling player he really is when he gets back, not the steroid All Star from his Oakland days. That is, I'm guessing that this scare is enough for him to rethink the decision to use roids.

Harsh? Yes. Melodramatic? No.
Giambi rolled the dice with his body and the rules. I do not begrudge him for taking steroids, but he deserves zero sympathy. He knew what he was getting into.

Any other team that made as many gazillion dollar mistakes would be looking at 100 loss seasons. Obviously, other teams don't have the opportunity to make so many mistakes, but even on a percentage basis the Yankees track record is horrible. Jeter is now a mediocre hitter (and crappy fielder). Bernie is over the hill. Giambi is a total waste. Their starting pitching is a joke. Even A-Rod is looking overpaid. A chimpanzee throwing darts could do better with $190M than Steinbrenner.
