have a look at Rossi's goal. Left footed player too...Now do you think the canny old hand of Fergie is trying to bring this kid thru to replace Giggs in a few years time? There are ton of reports that our next crop of youth are looking very, very handy. I'm hoping they make the step-up and the grade as Spector seems to be doing.

How refreshing :)

DS, shouldn't the title of this thread be "We will RELOAD". Rebuilding is for a team that hasn't won anything in a while.

Ah what a kid to watch for, if he can keep that level of play, he will just leave defenders crying across the league.

Rossi's goal is awesome. A real talent there. Who are the other up-and-coming players in the ManU system? Certainly Spector seems to be maturing well. I haven't seen enough of Eagles to judge yet.

Pique
Ngualua
Dong (we hope)
Bardsley
Eagles
Cooper

There are more but it remains to be seen whether they'll make the grade so we'll see in a year or so's time.

In terms of guys we haven't seen too much of yet with the first team, there's Chinese forward Dong Fangzhuo, Spanisn defender Gerard Pique (from Barca), English keeper Luke Steele, American forward Kenny Cooper, and Danish forward Mads Timm. Kieran Richardson is a up-and-comer too, but I haven't seen much from him to believe he can take over Giggs' spot.

I see your point of view...how long until he gets his call up! (one more year or two?)

Eh? Rebuild? We perhaps need another winger and a DM. In fact, I'd even put at us at "Best Team in the EPL when healthy" if we got a player at one of those positions of sufficient quality.

Hardly... rebuilding. Rossi has apparently been excellent so far, though. So has Lee Martin... who happens to be another young winger :).

It depends alot on his progress. He's 17 now IIRc and look at Spector at ony 18 getting starts, If Rossi keeps developing at the rate he is doing we may seem him in a few games next season.

The Worthington Cup or whatever it is called now will be interesting this season and will give us more insight into how well the youth are doing and who is ready or can handle a proper game aganst some 1st teams who want to win the competition.

Pique had loads of ability on the ball, in that game. Came forward on rampaging runs, no wonder bartha were pissed at loosing him.

I keep hearing good things about Ngualua, but I have yet to see him anywhere. How has he looked so far this year?

It's not a bad team of youngsters we've got coming through at at...

--------------Steele
??????---Bardsley--Pique---Spector
Eagles---Ngualua---Timm-----Rossi
--------Johnson--Cooper

Not to mention a bunch of other guys liek Djoric, Richardson, Dong, Martin, Brandy, etc. Although they obviously won't all make it by any means, the only position I know of that doesn't have a very good youngster in it is rightback; so we are assured another decade of Gary Neville stumb... eeerrr, tearing it up around the pitch ;)

Pique looks twice the player, of McShane. I like Timm. So easy to find my posts just look for a yellow.

Perfect timing, don't you think? Just as the class of 92's last gems enter the twighlight of their careers, the most talented crop of young 'uns seem ready to pop through. I'm thinking United should invest the entire of our next season's transfer budget in a gem of a player ie a Ronaldinho, Robinho, Tevez etc, as with the youngsters coming through you don't want a group of Bellions and Forlans blocking their way into the first team.

What I mean is, at the moment Bellions game is FAR ahead of many of the youngsters. However, if another young winger is given his chance, he could achieve wonders in a while. An influx of players next summer would be bad news for the younger players.

Seems as United fans, we have a lot to look forward to in the short (Heinze's and Rooney's debut and the return of Rio and Ruud), medium (Trophies at the end of this season-possibly) and long-term (Richardson, N'Galula, Timm, Pique, Rossi etc). Without being over-confident or dismissing the superb talent at Highbury and Stamford Bridge, I think our domination of the 90's can be carried forward to this decade, with a little bit of luck and a worthy replacement for SAF.

Not to rain on everyone's parade, but most youngsters never pan out. Most of these won't either. I'd say the same thing of young Chelsea players, too. United has had supposedly great players coming up for ages now. And none have made a real breakthrough since............Beckham, I suppose. Lets not get carried away.

Thank you for telling us, because we thought that all youth team players grew into world class players...
