nobody hit barthez he was on the bench.
but during the match, the refery made a few mistakes...
and at the end of the game, a morrocan player takles DEhu from behind.
and when he got up he pushed the morrocan player. then evreybody has gone crazy^^
a WAC player hit meite from beind , meite ran after him for 80yards^^
then the morroco TV cut the cameras and filmed a quite part of the stadium...
sad :D
at the end we saw barthez shouting and spitting at the refery^^
an unespected end of the game, quite funny allthough ;)
They R really CRAZY. But i really like them ;)
now we know what R louis Dreyfuss put Acaries for ^^

They guy who hit Meite and ran before he even saw his reaction was so great!
As for Barthez, did he REALLY spit at the ref? In the .gif I couldn't see anything. When the game was broadcast, did they show a different angle? Besides from the ref is there a confirmation of this, I sort of read what Papa Diouf was saying but it was translated badly. Also, what doy uo think his punishment was? A fine?

Cheyrou at home at last
by Mark Kendall -
Bruno Cheyrou believes he has finally found his niche at Marseille under Philippe Troussier after a disappointing two-year spell with Liverpool.
The 26-year-old joined The Reds in a big-money move from Lille in the summer of 2002 but failed to make any real impact during his time at Anfield.
He was farmed out on loan to Marseille by Rafa Benitez shortly after the Spaniard's arrival in the close season, and has now revealed it was a two-year loan deal he agreed with the Ligue 1 outfit.
The attacking midfielder found it difficult to establish himself at Stade Velodrome in the first half of the season under Jose Anigo, but has found his fortunes revived by the subsequent appointment of Troussier.
He has started the last two games, both of which Marseille have won, and believes he is now settled and set for an extended chance to shine.
"I'm finally at ease at l'OM," he stated.
"During the transfer window I had a long think about my future because I'm not only loaned for the next six months, but also for next season."
Cheyrou believes that both Liverpool and Marseille suffer from the weight of expectation of their fans, but added that he felt that the pressure was actually more intense in Southern France.
"We can compare L'OM and Liverpool," he continued.
"They are both clubs with prestigious pasts, great teams that have won important victories.
"Both have not been champions for almost 15 years so there are huge expectations.
"Each season the fans think: 'This will be a good one'.
"However, there is not the same relationship between the players and fans, it is more heated at Marseille."

Woop, he did spit at the Ref, the clip from http://omediatheque.free.fr/index.php?lien=saison2005 shows it. Wow, Barthez was angry! There was even a guy going at him and he threw him to the floor. The clip also showed a little more running from Meite and his "slapper" :D
(Thanks ZoltaR for the link, I hadn't seen the site for a while).

It's a must-win match because next we have a hard one away at Saint-Etienne.
I'm feeling that this match against Istres won't be easy. Hope to be wrong.

Would someone please explain the obsession with American culture that exists amongst the Marseille ultras?
At least I assume that's what it is - I mean, Yankee, Dodger...

yep good question...
even some of the supporters ( yankees) shout the yankee doodle as a support song.
maybe becaus america was quite popular in the eighties in france, when most of the ultra groups where created in marseille.
however, i think there is not an obsession about the american culture, marseilles has its own history and culture (the city was founded in 600 Before jc).
Ithink the "yankees" group is a reference to the oppositions between the north (yankees) and the south ( ultras, south winners) curves of our Velodrome stadium(the south winners often show some confederate banners like this:http://www.sw87.com/v3/histo/ico_autocollant.jpg. this reference to the american civil war highlights the fair opposition that consists in making much more noise and fireworks than the opposite curve, and to shout and reply to each other just like HERE (http://omediatheque.free.fr/videos/tribunes/omediatheque_aux_armes.avi)).
for the dodgers, i think it's just a lack of imagination^^

As an OM fan in the United States, I'm frustrated by this team. Are they good or mediocre? I just have this fear that they will finish 4th and end up with nothing at all. Is Luyindula rubbish or good? Why has it taken this long for Battles to play in the starting lineup? Is Barthez done?

They will finish 2nd or 3rd and get into the Champions League I would bet on it.
