Would anyone be interested in doing a "Survivor"-type round of polls. I've seen it done on another board, and the discussion was pretty good. The way it works is an album is offered up. All tracks are listed, and people vote off the worst track, stating the reasons behind their choice. Then, the remaining songs are listed and the process occurs again. In the end, there the "best" track will remain. Obviously, it works best with an album that has all above-average tracks. I've saw it done with The Bends, and it was interesting to see others' opinions on the different songs. Who knew that Bones is as equally loved as hated?

Just wanted to offer up the idea. Obviously, it would create many polls per album. Maybe Huss would give us another board if the topic was popular enough. I think there are a lot of good albums out there that would work. Due to my work schedule, I wouldn't be a good choice to run the thing.

First, is anyone interested in this sort of thing? If so, what's a good album to start it off with.

Second, would anyone who has access fairly regular access to the internet be willing to administrate?

That's actually a pretty interesting idea.

Sounds like a good idea, what album do you have in mind?

It's obviously going to have to be something massive at first...like Revolver or OK Computer or Dark Side of the Moon just to see how it plays out.

Any of those three would work. Personally, I'd rather do Revolver or OK Computer. Of course, if we did Radiohead, Fitter Happier would be a runaway winner. Still, it would be fun to see which track comes in second.

That's people's favorite track off of that album?

Nah, I was just joking. I'm guessing it would be the first track voted off. Really, I have no idea which song would win.

I was going to say. I guess my "joke detector" doesn't function at full capacity after midnight :D

OK Computer would be big fun to do first.

I'm up for it. Rather than use the actual poll function, it may be better to just have people post their vote within a thread. That way, the board won't be cluttered with polls. Also, not being able to vote without comment may lead to more discussion. As for procedure, we could have a voting period of 12 hrs./24 hrs./whatever. After the deadline, votes would be tallied and a new round of voting would begin.

Does this sound good?

Works for me. I'd suggest a 24 hour voting period. That way, you could rip through most any album in a week & a half to two weeks.

Cool. I'll probably post a new thread in a few minutes, and we'll consider Saturday 9/11 the open period for the first round of voting. I'll probably wait until the morning to post my first vote. I want to give the album another listen before sending Fitter Happier off to the great beyond.
