So Global (FSWC) have dropped Sky Sports News. I liked its Division One coverage.
Is this another case of Global being cheap? What's next??

No - this is a case of FSWC wanting to go with it's homegrown show, "The Fox Sportsworld Report". Besides, this allows us to bring in complete weekend hilite shows from the Bundesliga, France and England for everyone to enjoy.
It's making me chuckle because last year people were whining about not having enough of the 'League Specific' hilite shows - now we do and they whine about Sky Sports being taken off....
Make up your mind people - I don't think we can afford both!!
Oh and tune into "The Fox Sportsworld Report" with Jeremy St.Louis and Michelle Lissel weeknights on Fox Sportsworld and Fox Sportsworld Canada at 10pm ET, 7pm PST.

Sky Sports News was OK, but there was a HUGE amount of stuff that I just didn't care about.... Horse Racing, Cricket, Rugby (which is OK but I don't care that much) and so forth. I much prefer the more action-centric production of FSWR. Maybe FSWR could do a short Division 1 roundup every week/day/biweekly?
I know there's alot of Hammers/Leeds/etc fans that would like to be able to follow their teams and it's just not easy.
--EDIT -- I didn't know this was just in Canada. My opinion still stands though.

Thanks for the response, Jeremy!
Don't get me wrong, I much prefer FSW Report to Sky Sports News... I think it's a great show and I watch it often. And I also love the "EPL Review Show".
The main thing I liked about SSN was its coverage and highlights of England's lower leagues. The bad things about SSN are its lack of Premier League highlights and its constant droning about the most miniscule happenings at Chelsea and Man U.
But as long as Crystal Palace are in the Premiership, then I don't have much need for Sky Sports News. In other words, please bring it back for next season! :)

Are you crazy? this is the nature of pleasing soccer fans in North America. You can't please them all.
As long as you don't have highlights for ***EVERY*** league in the world, someone is going to whine. I mean, where is your J-league, Iranian League, Tunisian League and Chinese Super League highlights in the Fox Sports World Report?

I've seen them do Division 1 (League Championship) wraps this season - I'm not sure if they are locked into a specific night or time slot, but I've seen them do it. JSL can certainly fill in the blanks on that one.

Our bread and butter is the EPL - no doubt there - but we have often discussed getting more into 'The Championship' (get it right people:P) and it is something we shall call 'a work in progress'. We all like The Championship and would have no qualms covering it but the problem is consistency. Do we get enough Championship stuff to warrant more coverage? Not right now...are we looking into it? Maybe.
Rest assured we'll do the best we can to get the important Championship stuff to you - that's all I can promise and I apologize if it is not enough.
Cheers!

Then get rid of the highlight shows or the Fox Sports World report! SkySports covers the daily business of the game better and was one of the reasons I subscribed!

It sort of makes sense, to be honest there was a lot of overlap between Sky Sports News and Fox Sports World Report.

Jeremy,
Any word on whether FSW Canada will pick up the Sunday Premier League game at 11AM? I would appreciate getting that for free instead of spending $20 every weekend!

No...I read the post just fine...the fact is, SkySports is more than just a highlites show...it has the news and exclusive interviews that you can't get anywhere else.
It's time to complain, people! Let's all write and phone FSWC to let them know we don't appreciate getting less than we had!

My suggestion would be to complain - comments@foxsportsworld.com. You'll likely get further there than you will on here.
Good luck with that.

I think adding a bit of coverage of the Championship (I really think that's a silly name, but that's a topic for another day) to the FSW shows would be good. The focus on the EPL is great, but given that the Championship feeds teams to the EPL each year and has a lot of former EPL teams and there is a fair amount of player movement between the levels, I think more Championship coverage would be a plus. Even just a quick run through of the results and table would be nice. I personally would rather see Championship coverage at the expense of some of the other European coverage.

I know this is rugby-related rather than soccer, but does anyone know if FSW Canada is going to have the New Zealand NPC this year? Nice to have the Currie Cup but I'd miss the NPC if it's not there. Fortunately Rogers Sportsnet is carrying it, at least periodically, on Sundays.
(ob. soccer reference - I miss Sky Sports News too!)

well i know they are showing the NPC here in the states, so i am sure you will have it too. theres a thread over in the rugby forum with the FSW rugby schedule (you'd have to search for it though as it would be a few months old).

I like FSWReport or Sky - FSWR offers more specifics on the games themselves so I probably prefer it to Sky. I don't follow any of the other sports Sky shows so, at most, its a 20 minute investment for me. FSWR is more likely a 40 minute investment of my team due to more in-depth coverage of teams/sports I care about.
One request - put it on at 6:00AM CST each morning (in the old Sky timeslot). I sure as heck would prefer to watch it instead of SportsCenter most mornings...

Rogers Sportsnet, being 20% owned by FOX, has first dibs on FSI programming.
Global/FSWC only get the leftover FSI programming that Sportsnet doesn't want, and only if Global/FSWC is willing to pay for it.
