I was watching the Fox Sports World Report and I saw the tale end of the Miles Report with Christian Miles. I did not hear what he said, but it seemed as though this was his last edition of that and that he might be leaving the network. When Jeremy St. Louis started talking after the segment he said something about Miles finding a new job. Is Christian Miles leaving FSW? Did anyone see the report tonight to verify what he said? Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks

Is he the big talent that Ollie keeps telling us is gone from FSW not Max Bretos? Is that the air being let out of Max's ego that I hear?

Hopefully ESPN picks him up. That would be cool.

So we do not know why he is leaving? Is he being forced out or is he leaving on his own?

It is my understanding that Chris is leaving entirely of his own volition in order to pursue other opportunities. We all wish him the best of luck.

GOOD RIDDANCE CHRISTIAN MILES!!!!!!!
He was the most annoying one there, even more annoying than Max Bretos!
I could never wait for that Miles Report to be over to see the Goals of The Week...Now the Goals of the Week will come on earlier!
He's just a guy that knows nothing about soccer and that's why they gave him the MLS report...

NO...they gave him the MLS Report because they get to do that funny word play on his name. The MiLeS Report.....that's cool.

You all heard correctly - Christian is leaving to pursue other opportunities. We found out just before last week's edition of 'The MiLeS Report' and we're sad to see him go. As much as some of you hate some of us, we all respect one another for our talents and Christian did a wonderful job contributing to our show - and the MLS probably couldn't be happier because WE certainly didn't have the time to cover the MLS like Christian did. For now, the MiLeS Report is finished so the MLS is back to spotty coverage on FSWR.
We know where Christian is headed and let me assure you he'll land on his feet no problem. Plus as he said, he'll be back from time to time to cover games on FSW.
We wish him well in his new opportunities!

Christian Miles made the Dutch League enjoyable. Christian could pronounce those difficult Dutch names and his knowledge of the league was top notch. When they replaced him with Sean Wheelock it went downhill in a hurry.
Christian will be sorely missed. Good luck to him with his new endeavors.

Like him or not (I am indifferent on Christian Miles) people really ought to show a little respect for the on-air talent. No matter what you may think it's not an easy job being on camera or behind the microphone.
Farewell Christian!

Yes I wish him well. He was a good guy who I respected.
However the MiLeS report was completely unwatchable. I love MLS as much as the next FSW viewer so I usually like things like this, but the segment was just terrible, I could hardly sit through without wondering why I am watching. I mean the worst part was the emails, they sucked, he must have read the only two emails he got or something because they were pointless. And plus, they didnt even bother to put them up on the screen for us.
Good luck Christian!

Best of luck to Christian Miles.
He is making the correct career move by leaving FOX Sports Int'l now after spending 6 years there.
A bit of background information:
Miles arrived at FOX Sports Int'l shortly after FOX Sports World started operating in the Autumn of 1998. He was recruited by former FSI producer Ed Wyatt (now a reporter for SBS in Australia) to fill a production assistant (PA) position.
Miles certainly used FSI to his full advantage, both on and off-camera. In the early days, FOX Sports World was a startup operation where low-level personnel had lots of hands-on opportunities. I can't think of any other TV operation besides FSI where a PA was given significant air time.
To his credit, Miles has recognized that career growth opportunities at FSI are severely limited, especially with FSI importing more shows from overseas instead of producing its own products for FOX Sports World.

BS. No one forced him to choose a career where he was in front of a camera or behind a mic. He does it because he loves it. Its a cool job and one I am sure he is glad to have. The downside of that is the potential for public ridicule far beyond what other careers offer. Thats life....he is a big boy, he can handle it.

I thought he was OK. In all honesty, his biggest problem is his boyish voice. It's not what we expect from a sports announcer (or, frankly, a post-adolescent male) and it's jarring and it distracts from what he's saying.
Folks, the one thing I know deep, deep down in my soul that is true, more true than just about anything else I know, is that being a sports announcer is a very difficult job to do well. Almost all of them are considered sucky by fans. Well, if they're all sucky, maybe it's our expectations that suck?
They can't all be Bobby McMahons.

Superdave,
I'm inclined to agree, somewhat. But what I think really happens is that some broadcasters are liked by some viewers and others like a different style. So, yes, every broadcaster has their detractors, but they aren't the same for every one. The perception that every broadcaster is generally disliked is the result of this. Personally, I liked Miles when he called games, he kept it simple and didn't make himself the center of the broadcast, unlike some others (I'm looking at you Mr. Bretos). But the MiLeS Report was crap.....you have to admit that.

Jeremy,
Are you at will to tell us where Christian will be working? Or is that something you are not allowed to talk about? If no, I must at least ask if his job is soccer related?
I think Christian did a pretty good job. Everyone can be a critic and rip on him or others, but it is a tough job. Any coverage of soccer in America is good coverage. I appreciate the hard work and effort he put into trying to help promote and cover the MLS.

They can't all be Bobby McMahons. And why not?!?
Seriously though, Bobby is definitely the best analyst on television right now but I don't understand how it would be so difficult to find more folks like him. It's not like he uses some unique gimmick -- just concise, knowledgable commentary with the occasional snark mixed in (but never mean-spirited).
How are the folks over on Gol TV? I usually change the channel if the analysts are on.

I do not listen to them. Usually the GolTV news is being translated into English by a translator so you do not get the same feeling as watching the FSW report. GolTV is cool for the Live soccer action, but their news and such is not for me. I stick to FSW for that.
