I was in the car, listening to NPR. Rod Paige just gave a speech regarding George W. Bush's record on education over the last four years.
He sang the praises of "no child left behind" and how it was really working.
Did anyone catch this? I'll see if I can find a transcript and post it here. If anyone beats me to it, please put it in this thread.
I really want your reactions to this.
I make no mystery my feelings toward how Bush has done w/ education... but I'm not going to say anything now.
What do you think?

Well, there's a link to the video up....
http://www.2004nycgop.org/schedule/ then look for Paige's name.
The link is javascript, so I couldn't post the whole thing here.
Check it out and let me know.

I'm not even going to try that link with my piss-poor dial up connection. I'm never surprised by the bile that comes out of Rod "Houston Miracle" Paige. How someone with such an obvious hatred for teachers can be in charge of National educational initiatives just baffles me. I'm not overly bothered by any of that right now though. The semester started last week, and I've been having a blast doing my internship. I can't wait until the actual student teaching starts.

I'm so glad I didn't hear that. I'd hate for my head to explode from anger while I was driving down the street.
The only politician in my lifetime who wasn't criminally clueless about education was the late Paul Wellstone. The rest are a group of bipartisan idiots.

I am very impressed with Dr. Paige and his efforts on behalf of American education... he has not taken any crap from the teacher unions (NEA, etc.) and instead focused his time helping both the inner-city and rural school systems improve their education initiatives. He is as good or better than former Education Secretary Bill Bennett at championing the president's education initiatives, and he is a firm supporter of the successful "No Child Left Behind" program.
When President Bush is re-elected, I would like Dr. Paige to move to address his support for the child school uniforms program, which forces schools to adopt school uniforms and clothing/attire standards. I also hope he begins to refocus the Charter Schools program and continues his support for non-unionized labor, as the NEA is the worst thing for teachers!
Local non-unionized schools seem to genuinly like Rod Paige and it is easy to understand why... he is advocating initiatives on behalf of the President -- testing through elementary, secondary, and high schools - to force schools to provide better education for all!
Go Dr. Paige!

Care to explain why you think it worked?

1. You're a communist.
2. You're going to be eaten alive for the later half of those comments.

But apparently not 'in the know.'
