If I'm posting this in the wrong forum sorry... it says "engines and more".....
This weekend the lease on my 2001 Ford Escape ran out , so I went in and much to my surprise, my wife, instead of wanting another Escape just like ours, wanted this.... and I couldn't disagree, so there it is!!!

2004 Ranger XLT
4x4 on the fly
4.0L V6 (auto tranny)
Flare Sides with NO UGLY DETAILING
Chrome plated aluminum step pipes (to be installed next week)
Spray in bed liner (coming soon)
Lockable Roll-up bed cover (coming soon, at the same time as the liner)
So far we LOVE it. It's got balls to spare with that huge engine, and it handles quite well. We had a small SUV before so we're used to being up high, but because of the off-road package and lage wheels, this is HIGH, like as high as a big truck (thus the chrome step pipes for my 5'4" wife) . It's really fun to drive, I think it looks killer, and the payments are only a little more than it was for our old Escape.
Comments welcome, or not, I don't care! :)

I've just never liked flares/sidesteps on pickups. Perhaps my buddy's 58" Chevy sidestep is exempt, but I really like straight, clean lines on trucks. Also, not to keep ragging on it, but I'm not huge on extended cabs on compact pickups. But congrats,. anyway. I'm loving the new f150 and the new Nissan Titan. Big trucks with little to no plastic and lots of straight lines.

Nice rig. A red 2003 Ranger 4x4 was on my short list when I was looking for a new rig last year for my 31st birthday present. I ruled it out though cuz I thought I would need to passenger capacity of an SUV. Boy was I wrong. I forgot that I'm a hermit and like to be by myself on outdoor outings. So I ended up getting a 2003 Escape. Here she is:

I also have a 2001 Focus.
If I had to do it all over again...the Ranger and Escape would be neck and neck. I have a long commute each day (80 miles give or take) and the Ranger I was looking at gets worse gas mileage than the Escape by like 5 gallons/mile or so.

The flare sides on this truck are minimal, just about 6 inches of extrusion. The step is functionally handy, especially for tying down scooters. The extended cab doesn't have any seats in it... it's about a foot of extra room behind the seats for putting normal, practical stuff in there, like groceries, etc. I'm glad we've got it. And there's NO plastic on this badboy except maybe on the bumpers.
Also it's a local product for me... every Ranger is made right here in St. Paul, just three miles away, and right across the street from where I work out. :)

FearM9, we liked our Escape a lot. We just had to have a truck this time.
Here's our old escape:

I guess I should withhold my opinions on light trucks... http://instagiber.net/smiliesdotcom/otn/angry/nono.gif
Anywho, the wife and I were looking at getting a 3/4 ton truck to haul the horses, but decided we ultimately couldn't afford the daily gas consumption given how rarely we need to haul right now. That equation will change when we build on our land (and thus have our own farm), but it just didn't make sense right now.

We don't have any horses, and never will... so a light truck oughta do just fine for hauling furniture, home improvement supplies, and scooters around town. Decent mileage is something that's definately a plus in today's Gas market. I only wish they had a hybrid Ranger. :)

I just got the chrome running board pipes installed today, makes it look complete.
As far as the license plate holder, you mean on the Ranger? in Minnesota you have to have front and back plates, so I don't know that it's an option for me...my scooters don't need front and back (obviously) but I think all 4 wheel vehicles do.

I like that truck Servo, very nice! I should probably get a new something or other myself pretty soon cuz my Civic is gettin up there in miles.
And I think Danks was talkin about the license plate holder itself, which probably has the dealer where you got the truck from's name all over it. I guess.
