If you can't beat us at your own ground who can you beat?

7 points down, Arsenal in top gear and Chelsea not slipping up either. Sadly Liverpool and Newcastle don't look very frightening either.

I agree. It's too early to make any kind of prediction about the season. Though it sure is nice to see them below us in the table, even if it is early! ;)

i was furious after todays game
i see it was dropping 4 points vs blackburn and everton
two teams i predicted to finish 15-18 in the league

and i dont want to hear about oh manu played good
that smith goal shouldve been cancelled because of sahas handball and who can forget ronaldos dive in the box

and today silvestres handball shouldve been a penalty
ITS CALLED GETTING POINTS UGLY

so were basically LUCKY to have gotten 2 points from those games with horrible play
in both games we lacked idea and what do they do keep on crossing the ball in the box so that maybe someone can head it in
Pathetic--youd expect that from a newly promoted side not manu

and the thing that pisses me off the most is this rooney bid
are you kidding me
we need some young offensive midfielders and another defender
rooney is not worth that money
we can get van der vart, sneijder, tevez marc van bommel for much less

next fixture is at bolton which wont be easy either so its time to start getting 3 points fergie--arsenal and chelsea wont slip up much this season and we had 2 slip ups already

btw remember when we were down 0-0 today did you guys think of who can come off the bench and provide a spark--and then that schmuk bellion comes out lmao

giggs and scholes have been below average in the past 2 games

It's not over now, but it may well be over before Rio and Ruud come back.

It's simple. SAF is lulling the league into a false sense of security. Come the end of the month (hopefully before) United will click into gear and stomp on everyone from a very great height.

And to be sure, I am praying to every deity I can think of.

Notwithstanding injuries, United should be beating teams like Everton and Blackburn!

It's way too early to state who will finish wear. Do you seriously think Bolton will finish third?!

Although Man Us starting eleven is as strong as anyones, they dont have any depth to the squad. Why didnt they sign a the center back they so badly need! Granted Ruud and Rio are still away, but this squad, to me, looks like the weakest Man U squad assembled in a long time. They need to buck there ideas up, they look amazingly average at best at the moment. If they keep playing like this, they wouldnt even qualify for the CL

It's looked worse later into the season than this, and it still happened. In the next couple of weeks everyone will be back from injury and I believe our real quality will be shown.

The short answer is NO.

Same old Scum, er, I mean Man Utd.--trying to buy the championship.
The Premiership is a three-team joke.

I think the most important part of Man Utd's season is how it performs now until they are at full strength. If they can keep this margin until they get Rio, Heinze, RVN and everyone healthy then they have a chance. However, if both us and Chelsea continue to win games and Man Utd get a draw or two or a loss, then its almost impossible.
Why? In the past they would only have to catch one club, but now there are two. The chances of both us and Chelsea losing a 9 or 10 point lead, if it comes to that is not very likely. One may slip but not both.
If the lead is 8 or 9 points then their game v. us becomes a must win. A draw won't do. They can't go into the new year with a 8 or 9 point deficit on two clubs.
I can't say it can't be done. We had a 9 point lead on them in December a couple seasons ago, lost 2-0 at OT which cut the defict to 6 and we lost the title.
I don't see them getting better than a draw v. us now. Also, don't see them beating Liverpool either. A draw maybe but not a win.

Now THAT is funny.

Van der Vaart maybe next year, but highly unlikely. He wants Barcelona - badly.

They have a tough fixture list coming up in the next few weeks.
If they dont get some wins then arse and chel could be well clear .

the part which was funny was stating that ManU could get Sneijder. Koeman and Van Gaal have said flatly that he is not for sale.

Van der Vaart? Well, he has his heart set on Barcelona (his mother's family is from there) but you're right on Ronaldinho and Deco. Maybe Rijkaard will have a soft spot for him though...

anyway, it is all speculation for now. But I think that the midfield may/should have been a wiser target for expenditure instead of an English boy wonder. It is a nice, but not very practical move, unless you think of the number of kits they will sell a la Beckham.

Rooney is a class above this Van der Vaart. Let's look at how Van der Vaart has done for Holland, he's been rubbish, out of his depth in every game. Take him out of his comfort zone at Ajax in a weak league and he cannot handle it.

Sneijder was only enquired about by Tottenham, not by Man Utd. Get your facts right.

It would be good to check the earlier posts in the thread - someone had suggested that ManU could have got Van der Vaart or Sneijder, among others. That is what I was responding to.

Anyway, I never was talking about the relative skill between VDV and Rooney. I was just talking about bang-for-buck.

I seem to recall a solid thrashing of Scotland where he did quite well. ;)

Hello? You do realize that this is vintage ManU? As in other years where they've won the premeirship, they're off to a slow start. The season really kicks in once boxing day rolls around. By then Mourinho will have suspended by the league for excessive frowning and Lehmann will have gone postal and took out Arse's defence, literally. :D
