I wanna know whatever happened to the animated Clerks feature. I was quite looking forward to that.

Personally, I consider this a far better alternative, but to each their own.

..and speaking as a roofer, I can say that a roofer's personal politics come heavily into play when chosing jobs.
I'm glad to hear this. After Dogma, I haven't seen one of his films, and reading some of the stuff on that link (the anger, etc) made me glad I didn't. I'm looking forward to this though.

Did anyone catch Kevin Smith and Ben Affleck on "Dinner for Five" on IFC? Smith and Affleck should just do a "My Dinner With Andre" style movie. It'd be better than Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back.

DIdn't Dante get killed at the end of the version of Clerks that made the festival rounds. I seem to remember hearing friends of mine who saw it at the Chicago Film Festival saying it was great, except for the ending.

Yeah, the alternate ending was him getting shot as he closed up shop.
Smith should just quit while he's ahead.

Thanks. Now that I think about it, I seem to remember watching the voiceover version on IFC and he said something about Miramax making him change the ending, and while he resisted at first, he figured out they made a better call than he did. Doesn't usually happen that way with Miramax.

It's almost impossible to recreate the original spirit of Clerks so I don't know if it's a good idea or not. But damn, that's a great title.

I recently watched Clerks again, I don't know how many times that I've seen it now, but it had been a while since I last watched it.
Absolutely brilliant, even better if you've worked in customer service. I'm back at it, working before school starts again. Randal's line--"This job would be great if it wasn't for the ********ing customers" just about sums it all up. You really can't say more about your job experience on certain days than he says right there.
Even the mistakes are funny. Jay messing up his line about his grandma's saying, and Kevin Smith as Silent Bob looking the other way as he starts again.

See, I thought Smith did J&SBSB to get all the gay and dick jokes out of his system, so he could get around to making movies without J&SB.
But should be fun nonetheless.

Am I the only one that liked Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back?
Rank the view askew canon:
1. Dogma
2. Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back
3. Clerks
4. Mallrats
5. Chasing Amy
(though, for the record, Chasing Amy rules. But something had to be five)

I thought Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back was funny as hell.

I remember the voice over version where after Jay says "No, I ********ed that up", Kevin Smith voices over "Actually, he did that perfect".

My take on J&SBSB is that was a movie anybody could make. It was funny, but in my mind it was pretty run of the mill slapstick comedy, but I haven't seen it in 3 years, so maybe my memory of it is a little distorted. But my rankings of the Askew movies would be:
1. Chasing Amy
2. Clerks
3. Dogma
4. Jay & Silent Bob
5. Mallrats
my top 3 change depending on the day...when I worked at Target, Clerks was number 1, when I was in Catholic high school, Dogma was number 1, right now Chasing Amy is number one, but that really could change.

Clerks was funny, and he should have stopped at Mallrats. He knew full well once Clerks had some popularity that it could easily lead to a shitsock waste of time like "Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back". Watching J&SBSB actually made me retroactively hate all of his other movies, with a possible soft spot for Clerks.
