that Chinese young talent who used to be signed by Man. Utd like 1/2 years ago but went on loan to some Belgium club. It was big news at that moment. Is he still playing on loan or is he playing with the Man. Utd reserves or wasn't he that big of a talent after all?
I remember his name was like Dong something, could someone give me clearity about this situation?

I think Dong will be playing with Antwerp for at least 1 1/2 years. When United signed him, he didn't qualify for a work permit so he will have to play in Belgium for two years and then try to convince the British authorities that he has the quality to play in England. The other option was to hope he gets called up to the Chinese National Team so that he has enough caps.

soccernet did an article on him. it wasnt to prove that he was good enough to pay in england actually. its more the chinese player ahs to be called up to the national theme and play a set amount of games before he can get a work permit in england. if he doesnt get called up united are hoping he'd get belgium citizenshiop and then wont need a work permit

What I am worried about is why he is coming off the bench... I mean if he cant start in the Belgian 2nd league then he will never be United Quality... he should be Forlan's shoe shine...

Dong came on 55' and scored 75' on Saturday. Final result was 4-2. I think he's coming of the bench right now because he didn't take part in any of the preseason games. So expect him to start as the season continues.

ok, thanks alot for the info... but maybe he should be recalled and loaned out to a new team in december because he needs better competition... the problem is we probably need to leave him there because we need them to get back up to the top flite in order for them to better serve us as a feeder club and place to send trainees... maybe we should send some more of our youngsters over there... maybe Bellion after we sign Rooney if we do...

I dont think we had any plans to play him right away... I think that he was supposed to spend a season or 2 with the reserves, maybe another further season on loan and then try to force his way into the team... that was just my take on the whole thing... afterall he's just 17.

I really think it depends on his progression as a player. Look at Spector he hasn't been with the club long and he has already got in with the first team for some game action. If Pique is already advanced then I could see him only needing some time with the reserves. It also partially depends on his strength and size as to if he can handle the Premeirship.

Spector has been at the club what almost a year now? I think that should be taken into consideration and of course, he is playing exceptionally well... any player, no matter how old, would have to play exceedingly well in the reserves and in practice to get a call up, and you are right, at the end of the day, once you can do both or even one, you will likely get the call up...
