I just noticed that Lyon turned down a 10million pound transfer for Anelka.
Which player, EPL or otherwise, has the highest career transfer value? Meaning that a player transferred twice for 20 and 15 million pounds has higher career value than one who's been transferred once for 30 million pounds.
Thanks!

probably zidane simply because he cost so much to go from juventus ---> real madrid,
in the EPL i think Rio Ferdinand has the largest total transfer value.

Yeah Zidane it was reported cost somewhere like 75 million Euros.
Hmm Rooney might break the EPL record soon. If it gets into a bidding war between ManU and Newcastle

Zidane commanded the highest one time fee, right? From Juve to Real. But he hasn't been transferred since. As far as his career goes, what did Juve pay to get him in the first place?
According to About.com, Hernan Crespo went from Parma to Lazio for $70.1USD and then he went from Lazio to Chelsea, right? His career transfer fees might give Zidane a run for his money. And if Chelsea ever sells him again, he might be the winner.
(Actually, did Chelsea sell him and loan Veron or was it the other way around?)

I believe they're both on loan spells..
Regarding the transfer - might be right with Rio, he's had two quite expensive transfers, to leeds and to man u..
Otherwise, good question, Ronaldo perhaps, PSV-Barca-Inter-Real..?

Speaking of the bald headed one, he has to be up there as well.
What was it, £28 M to United and £15 to Chels alone.
What did he cost when he went to Italy?

And yes, they're both on loan - Crespo and Veron - but, i think it's safe to say that they'll never again command the stupid fees they once did.

Robbie Keane has a surprisingly large career transfer value. IIRC, £20m to an italian club, then £12m to leeds, then £7m to tottenham...

Thank you. This is exactly what I had in mind when I posed the question in the first place.
Buffon commanded over 32 million pounds?! Amazing!

Wow, Crespo is worth that much? these days i dont think so, as with most of those guys on that list. Those transfers were made in the "spend and pay another day" days of past.

WORLD'S BEST Goalkeeper is more than worth it.

No doubt and Buffon can play on my team any day. But if you were starting a team and money was an object, would your most expensive player be the keeper?
I know that the numbers are off because there was some wild spending a few years ago, and Juve can afford his transfer fee. But on the above list, Buffon was more expensive that Ronaldo or Vieri and only Zidane and Figo went for more money.
Being able to spend 30+million pounds must be a nice problem to have! :)

'Worth that much' and 'Cost that much' are two different things.
