A few years ago I suggested here that I was going to make a fanzine, just for kicks, and asked if anyone here was interested. The response was pretty encouraging, but a book project fell into my lap and the free time I was gonna put toward the 'zine vanished, so it never happened. Now I'm ready to try again.

I've got no agenda on this project other than wanting to put out something in hard copy form that might be a little fun to read...I've always felt the 'zine was an important part of non-mainstream culture, and despite the advent of the Web, I'm always amazed at how much enjoyment I get out of picking up a fanzine at the door of some little record store and reading it on the subway. I've written a zillion words about pop culture stuff, and it's the small press/'zine stuff that is always the most fun. I was just gonna do it myself, but thought it would be fun to include some of you guys & gals on this board who really seem to know your stuff and/or are just plain fun to read.

If anyone is interested in writing anything for this thing (music, interview [I can probably set some people up with phoners with baby bands], film, soccer, local scene, general rants, whatever...) PM me...I intend to do it old school, a total cut and paste job (unless someone out there knows how and wants to do a fancy layout job or put it on the web). I'm only shooting for an 8 pager, any more will be bonus, and no reasonable submission will be refused. I'm totally starting from scratch, so anything is possible.

One of the cool things about doing a 'zine here is that you guys are all over the country. Once a final layout is made, I can send it out to you guys in "ready to copy" form and if you want to bang out 100 copies at work to leave around your town...hey presto!--national distribution!

Again, this is strictly for kicks. Let me know by PM if you want in.

If you're interested in some web stuff (i.e. site or a layout) let me know, I'd be more than happy to help out with it.

I'd be fully down to write a few reviews (not too long, but not "mini") on re-issues of older albums coming out.

edit - whoops, you said PM...well, I'm not gonna do it now. Whatever. Yea, I want in.

Hey, footix. Would you possibly consider reviews of comic books? Not the kiddie kinds, but comics from Dark Horse or Vertigo. Something like that?

If so I'd be interested. I've written brief reviews on my blog, but I'd be more than happy to write a good sized review. Nothing short, but nothing too long either.

Cool. Consider yourself "Reissues Editor".

I'm taking dibs on the porn and beer reviewer slots as long as there's reviewer's copies and freebies involved.

I finally binned that original PM about a month ago.

Mike, you can have the beer & porn review page, but being an equal opportunity 'zine, you also have to review g@y porn. :D

If you don't have a Joe Queenan spot filled, I'm in'nare.

Speaking of spots, who has the Metal Mike gig?

Also, I'm willing to help with stuff like editing, etc, cause I'm nice like that.

I'd be happy to help out any way you want. I'm a pretty good web programmer, and I can write pretty decently when I put my mind to it. And I figure, hey, why PM since people are already replying to the thread. :)

If we're going to assume the personages of our reviewing idols, please please please let me be Dan Aquilante. I'll grow a 'stache and search every yard sale in Bergen County for the requisite Members Only jacket.

I'll be glad to help in any respect. I did my own 'zine in the late ninties for a few years (circ. about 2K) and I've been meaning to get back into it. I'll do copy editting, reviews, column, whatever is needed.

Well, then, I've got to be in... ;)

I don't really have a niche, but I'd love to help out where ever it's needed.
