It's hilarious, isn't it. The second assault case to be enacted in front of the Old Stand, which means we must have some kind of record. Perhaps two plaques should mark the places where they happened. Well, I doubt our Trev will get a Cantona-like amount of publicity this time around.

Seriously, I'm sure it's a storm in a teacup, though in these PC days who knows what'll happen. I would guess that if anything is to happen on the legal front, though, Klowninko would have to press charges...a good story there.

Francis-Kolinko dispute is over: Jordan

Crystal Palace chairman Simon Jordan has tried to draw a line under the incident between boss Trevor Francis and reserve keeper Alex Kolinko, claiming it was 'an internal club matter' and 'closed...'
SoccerNet (http://www.soccernet.com/england/news/2002/0816/20020816cpfcjordan.html)

He said: "I was not laughing in the dug-out, the manager punched me on the nose. I have not been given an explanation why he did it. My nose is very sore and bruised."

I don't think this guy is going to be with Palace for much longer...

Which just goes to prove that every cloud does have a silver lining!

Seriously, for the record, Francis' actions were appalling and only Simon Jordans' continual inability to deal with any problem professionally can be described as worse. Once again, we are (or should be) the laughing stock of football.

I'm sure bosses from hell everywhere are queuing up to apply for jobs at Palace, knowing that if they have a problem with their staff, they can just lamp them secure in the knowledge that the worst that'll happen is a pat on the back from their own boss.

Though it's a unique situation, once again I find myself understanding why Steve Bruce described Jordan as a man he couldn't work for.

Sorry Syd, that's been reserved by the patenting office for Kevin Davies, and Woy Hodgson for buying him for £7.5m.

I am having a bad weekend.

I wish f u c k i n g Kolinko would sue the arse of Francis, get him done for aggravated assault (I'd be happy to stand as a witness) and sent down for at least the next nine months. In which case, we might still have a chance of the playoffs.

Not unless you appoint Bryan Kidd as his replacement :D. Personally speaking, I thought Palace should have got someone from the lower leagues like Jan Molby, Steve Cotterill or Paul Sturrock.

One of my friends is a Brum fan, and he was smiling when Bruce replaced Francis.

I think you can probably guess who most of us would like. Name sounds like Steve Cotterill...same initials...only difference is that he's been beatified, so it's Saint Steve Coppell to you but, with a wanker for a chairman (who fired the man who is more or less singlehandedly responsible for the fact that we even exist today for losing a pre-season game), not much chance of that.

Failing Coppell, though, you're dead right. The alternatives are a "big name" (and we've never had any luck with those), or another re-tread like Francis who'll just bring his mediocre, non-achieving formula from somewhere else and achieve the same of nothing here. Sad, isn't it?

The odd thing is, Francis has actually made some quite astute signings, and I think on paper we are a better team than when he arrived. The problem is, he appears to be unable to motivate or manage the squad, and as for tactics... If we got the right manager in, the pieces of the puzzle are there to make a run at the playoffs.

Ananova (http://www.ananova.com/sport/soccer/story/sm_653378.html?menu=sport.football)Mullins set for Blues move

Hayden Mullins is set to sign for Birmingham next week in a £2.2 million deal.

Mullins will follow Crystal Palace team mates Jovan Kirovski and Clinton Morrison to St Andrew's in a deadline-beating swoop.

The Birmingham Evening Mail say Steve Bruce has been eyeing Mullins ever since quitting Selhurst Park last season.

Also, Kolinko is now getting the PFA involved...

Incidentally, though it wasn't widely reported, this is the third such incident involving Francis at Palace. At half time of a game at the end of last season, TF substituted Morrison who then had to be physically restrained in the dressing room by the other players from lamping the boss. One of them has said that he was tempted to stand aside and let Francis have it from Clinton. He also said that that was the moment when all the players knew that Morrison would never return to play for Francis again.

After that, in the last week of the season or so, Francis and Dougie Freedman either did, or very nearly did (depending on who you want to believe) come to blows on the training ground.

I think that once Simon Jordan can find a way of swallowing his pride, Francis may well be gone. If Jordan hadn't opened his big mouth so quickly last week and said publicly that this wasn't a big issue (before he got all the facts), then Francis would probably be gone already. A defeat on Saturday at Coventry may give Jordan the excuse to fire Francis for reasons that don't mean him going back on his original statement.

Seriously, there have got to be better things than that to do with a Saturday afternoon.

All we bloody need. We should sign Roy Keane, then put him, Wise, and Trevor Francis in a room and let them slug it out between them, with hopefully none emerging intact.
