My next banner design

http://bastaic.com/banner/dcu2.jpg

I thought it might be complicated but gf said it wouldn't be much harder to sew than last one, so we'll probably be making a 4x14 foot version of it during off season when we have time (unless I come up with something I like better... I really dig this font tho).

Alternatively if 5 groups of 5 people just do one 4x4 or 4x6 banner each we can cover that ugly looking empty area at 136 and make stadium look more like rest of the world and less like Kansas City. (Not holding my breath on that one, I mean people making banners... I'll cover fence by myself if I have to :D )

Here's what I grew up on (and I'm sure anyone with a good group in South America or Europe has seen the same). All of these are done by individuals or small groups of friends, only ones that SC makes are ones that are 30x300 feet or crazy things like that that noone could make by themsleves. We might have less people but I don't see reason not to move with proven world trends at least in areas where we won't give security a heart attack (since apparently if there are flags and pyro in US terrorists have already won)

Awesome bro, When I find it I'll email you the Barra Brava logo. See what you can do with it.

I found it. PM me your email address and I'll send it. It's an old logo and I would like to get the one we had on our original tshirts made up. If you come to Kilroys saturday I'll bring it with me so you can check it out.

Barra logo is Eagle holding a ball? I'm trying to find a graphic of eagle claw holding/piercing/grasping a soccer ball. Not whole eagle, just 1 leg with talons ripping through ball. Since there's everything on internet I figure someone has already done it for me to pillage, if not I'll eventually hire some artist to design it since it's pretty simple.

Natty, gotta keep it simple for sewing since we only have a small machine (which I can't even use so I better make it simple :p ). Once I locate a tailor with industrial sized machine I can think up more complicated stuff. Or vinyl/screenprinting/paint. I think Nowak flag that they have in Chicago was probably screenprinted, it looks sick (then again we can't have poles in DC yet).

Also I like simple stuff cause I only care how it looks from the pitch not from 5 feet away, hence big bold design :)

And some banner action from down south

My friend Mary is a graphic artist. She hand painted our Barra banner last year (somebody walked off with it :( ) but I'm positive she can do the talon/ soccer ball set up. I can have her do a rough draft and then maybe change it over to jpeg or something.

yea I heard. That's one of dumber things to take, what the ******** do you do with a banner at home. If she's at Kilroy's I'll remind you (I think she was there 2 or 3 games ago). If she used fabric paints or something I'll make sure to talk to her a bit since I never did it that way, would be good to get educated :D Does she go to games or she just did it for fun?

yeah, she goes to games (providing it's not raining  ) I'm sure I'll talk to her sometime this week. I'll see if she can join us for the game saturday.

I'll be making one for NJ trip but I don't think it will be that straightforward :D

I think Bulldog is on to something cool.

Personally I would like to get a Barra flag/banner made up with the Muerte O Gloria logo on it.

I also like how cool the diffrent sizes types of flags are.

--For those of us that are Espanol challenged Chico, what do those River banners say? Are those players names? Supporters names? Towns?

On another point. While placing stuff on an American flag is generally frowned upon...

;)

Begbie and I have thought for a long time that it would be cool to make up some Barra Brava flags like the guys from Forest had using the DC city flag or maybe an earlier US flag like the "Don't Tread On Me" one... While I generally hate kissing the a$$ of English soccer tradition here. It would seem like an easy thing to do at a low cost.

Those are towns or districts from the fans who travel to catch a River Plate game. I was fortunate enough to catch a Boca Juniors v Velez Sarsfield game at La Bonbonera in the early 80's.

WOW!!

Great banner, again, BBB. I am sure the Barra are very happy to have you as a member!

What about those long, thin banners in the midst of the aisles of that River Plate photo? Those would be cool, too!

That was one of original designs, I still have it online. I decided against it because I don't think BB has a name recognition in wider population to be immediately connected to DCU (compared to older groups outside US) so I wanted to tie it more with a logo.

But a 4x4 MoG skull flag would look cool too, if you can get it screenprinted or something. http://www.sugarhousebanners.com/ does digital print at low prices (well low as far as digi printing goes)

Chico answered River ones, Croatian ones say names of group (Bad Blue Boys), name of team (Dinamo), logo of team (that large checkerboard with d), logo of BBB (bulldog), name of our city (Zagreb) and then BBB + town or section of Zagreb smaller subgroups come from. Other large ones are more general, "Forever Blue," "Welcome to Blue Hell," "I love you mom, but not more than Dinamo," "Blue Lions," "I love only Dinamo," "Avalanche," "Pride of Croatia," "Even the dead live for Dinamo," "You are our love, we are your strength," "Sacred Dinamo." There's well over 200-300 banners of different sizes.

American flag is not that great to write things on, it's very busy :D I allways thought better solution would be to have name of town/state in white on red/blue background and then border it with flag on each side or something like that if people wanted to take those for national team. I don't have to worry about it, we can write on our flag. I'll be scratching Maryland or BBB USA on Croatian flag I'm taking to Iceland-Croatia for WC qualifier next year :D

English = yawn. Good songs, good numbers, good away games, good fights, but visually there are about 3823 countries where I'd rather look. It's a pity people usually think of European supporter style as English. Show me a picture from South America and I'll show you same one from Croatian or Italian ultras. Banners, streamers, table rolls, flags, mosaic choreographies, flares, smoke bombs, overhead flags. Only thing I don't think we ever used a lot is confetti cause noone wants to clean that :) But for me watching kop in England without a sound on is like watching paint dry.

BB if it is cool with you a couple of us going to the Labor Day game in Boston could bring the Barra Banner with the US Flag insert so that we are representing.

I always thought that the SE, Barra and LN should have one banner done up nicely for away games. A lot of road trips have small numbers and usually members of all three groups are representing. It would make taking banners much easier and make sure that everyone got there props.

That's no problem as long as I know that people that go will take good care of it, and that Chico will have it for 9/11 game since I won't be in DC. I'll have to make US Flag insert before than in that case but there should be enough time.

Dont forget that making it now will mean its available for the RFK US home qualifier :D

I promise to take good care of it. I can also bring it up in the bag with the Rattler Flag. Pm me on how and when I can pick it up. I am at every game with Barra so I will make sure it is there for the 9/11 game.
