this is a question for all America's fans: Maccabi Tel Aviv, one of the top teams in Israel, supposed to trial Edwin Valencia, he should get on the plain on Wednesday or thursday but he didn't come eventually and Maccabi's board can't find him now...does anyone know what happen with this guy??

I hope he had minor inconveniences and still makes it out to Israel. I believe he's our best option as a defensive midfielder for the national team and he needs to get out of America. Maccabi Tel Aviv would be an awesome club for him to join.
I didn't even know he was going for this trial. All I know is that he's in a legal battle with the club for his professional rights, since the club sent him down to the reserves apparently unlawfully. So he's been training with Diego Barragan who trains a bunch of profesional players that are on the lookout for a club to join. The other news that came out was that he was going for a trial in Spain.

so this is the thing probably. Maccabi's board suspected that he maybe got a better offer so if he got an offer from spain, it's probably better then Israel. in Maccabi he also get an exposure. Maccabi played in the champions league in 2004, they are Israel's most popular club. he could really helped them.

Pibe10, I'm a Maccabi Haifa (my girlfriend was born in a kibbutz just outside the city) fan and am always impressed by the scouting the Israeli clubs do. I'll never understand how they found Yakubu, for example!

It'd be terrific for Valencia to get a chance over there. I think he'd be a great contributor having seen several Israeli league matches while I visited last year, it'd certainly be a great financial option for him and he would get good exposure in Champions and UEFA competitions. The sad truth for us is that he'd probably fall off our coach's maps then...

I wouldn't worry about the Spanish offer, its to play in a second division side there. Valencia should go to play in a top flight league.

but there really is no way that the isreali league is better than the colombian...
I cant even name an isreali player... arent they in the asian confederation???

for him to go to isreal better to stay in colombia or go to mexico. I am not to keen on him going to the 2nd divison either... De la cuesta our former sub 20 captain went their and kind of feel off the radar for a real real long time.

Valencia will hopefully go to Cucuta, Tolima or Pasto and play in the liberatores and do well and go to a better team later on. the kid is only like 21 and is his best bet.

There r only 4 european leagues that he should go to france, italy, spain or holand(only psv).

Please not england either dont want another angel or viafara great players go their and destroy their talent. Angel is better than Crespo, Saviloa, Salas but never made that potential because he went to england and was in an awful team that did nothing but injure him alot, not to mention they didnt like him because he was colombian and they were racist..... Angel is like the whitest guy ever, I would hate to see how theyd treat rodagella or renteria:(

WHAT ON EARTH ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?

Nobody was rascist towards Juan Pablo. He is a hero to most Villa fans - they love him and to a man respect him as a professional. Many of them now think (that after six years as their main striker) they should go out and get a hotter prospect, but I've never heard or read a single rascist word spoken against him and I've been moderating the most posted on Villa forum for four years.

The Israeli league is very competitive and the top two or three teams from that league play in the UEFA leagues. Considering it from a human perspective, Valencia would make tons more money there and also be just as likely (if not more) to make the leap to Europe from there then he would playing in Colombia. If my memory serves me right, there are three or four Israelis playing in the Prem too (thats more than what we've got) and their national side barely missed qualifying on the last day of play in the European tournament for WC2006 births (they led France's group the entire way through and then collapsed in their last couple of games). They play in UEFA competition not Asia - and if they did play in Asia they would probably qualify to every major competition (they can't play against their Middle East neighbors for political reasons). In terms of talent, I think Colombia is certainly richer and deeper, but I think its plain idisrespectful and uninformed to insult the state of Israel's football as you have above.

I'd also note that the German league is another great proving ground for players where Colombians could likely succeed and develop great fundamentals that we are currently underutilizing especially considering the fact that our current and previous head coaches were educated in Germany.

angel was a bench player until o leary came and they didnt like him because he wasnt english, the coach b4 him didnt want angel on the team no matter how well he played. It wasnt until o learys 1st yr that angel was good and then he was injured and never the same player

as for isreal, whats the diff in sending them their than to ukraine, turkey, saudi arabia, china, korea or another one of those countries. The league is not as good as the colombian one sure they will get more money but will they get better as players or have a better shot being called up to the NT. This kid should be tring to get in our NT, and no matter how he does in isreal he will never be called up and no one will hear about him again. Its the sad truth

we have the captain of the champions of belgium and he is like 22 daniel cruz and has never been called up. Our coachs say if they never seen him play they wont call him up. Vonlathen of Switzerland is colombian and doesnt play for us because our coachs never saw him play and wouldnt give him a shot.

to be on the nt u must play in, hopefully this changes with Pinto, as long as they dont start searching in central america haha
colombia
mexico
brasil
arg
england
france
germany
spain
italy

if not u wont be called up... our players should know this buy now... my god they dont even call up the brasilan based players its basically just mexico, colombia and argentina

JPA had been Villa player of the year his first full season in England (2001-2) under John Gregory and was the most popular player on the team years before O'Leary joined Villa. He had his best season at Villa under O'Leary in 2003, which maybe when you started watching but what you've written above is completely inaccurate. JPA had been riding the pine under Graham Taylor but it had nothing to do with "rascism" - Taylor liked to play route 1 punt it up football and chose to play with a big man (Liverpool striker Peter Crouch) instead of JPA who he didn't see as a target man. Period. Rascism is a serious charge to throw around and you are using it here a) very lightly and b) without any grasp of the facts. I never agreed with Graham Taylor's tactics but he never uttered a single rascist word about Juan Pablo in the year and a half that he coached him. The Villa fans have NEVER been rascist or against JPA - the season he was benched under GT, they voted him player of the month in a Sky Sports poll (over players who were playing naturally) to show their solidarity.

With regard to what you say about the Israeli league, I think you should watch a couple of their league games and then speak about it. You've already demonstrated that you didn't even know what FIFA confederation they belong too.

Colombia's federation may be shortsided about the quality in foreign leagues outside Argentina, Spain, England and Italy - but that doesn't mean there isn't terrific football being played outside those countries and it certainly doesn't mean that the big leagues don't look there for talent.

crzdcolombian, you are partly right. I'm an Israeli person who is a fan of Colombia & Atl. Nacional more then I'm a fan of Israel. BUT...you can't disrepect Israel football. we were improved a lot in the last 10 years, Colombia and the Copa Mustang is better then Israel, but Israel played their WC qualification with France Switzerland and Ireland, won 4 and draw 6 and 0 losses!! we didn't qualified becouse we score one goal less then Switzerland. And like you don't know any Israeli team, Israeli fans don't know anything about Colombian soccer. they laugh at me when they hear that I'm crazy about Colombia. they like Brazil, Argentina, and beside Pibe, Higuita, Asprilla and Rincon they don't know anything and they sure that the Israeli clubs are better. The Israeli best club for my opinion will finished in the middle of the Copa Mustang table but they also had some great achievment. Maccabi Haifa, currently best team in Israel, qualified for 2002 champions league groupe and now they're in the last 32 teams in Uefa cup. Hapoel Tel Aviv bet PSG of Yepes in France 4-2 and also qualified. Maccabi Tel Aviv, maybe Edwin's future club, has the most championship & cups in Israel and qualified for the 2003 champions league. they drew with Juventus, Bayern and Ajax at the same group and made some expression, like 1-1 vs. Juve and 2:0 win over Ajax. I still think Colombia soccer is better, if these two teams will meet in the WC I'll surely put my yellow jersey on  and cheer Colombia, but Edwin Valencia can play here a year or two and then moved to a bigger european club like Yakubu from Middlesbrough, Benayoun from West Ham, Aouatte from La Coruna....

im sorry guys didnt mean to offend anyone just mean to say... if Edwin goes to isreal and is the best player there he will still never be called onto the national team. All that is there for him is money that is it... so I think its a bad idea. It really depends on him.

all i hear when u guys said he is going to isreal is pepe moreno, oltavaro, sergio herrea.... :(

one thing the people who are playing in england arent they on ur nt... thats prob why they are in england because u guys finished well in qualifing.

I'm not offended :) I also think like you, that Colombia is better but you still need to count Israel. the players I mention play for Israel NT except Yakubu, he's Nigerian. well it's too bad if coaches don't look for players all around the world. you said for yourself, we missed vonlanthen cuz no one looked at Swiss league. but If edwin will be good in Israel, belive me that he'll go for Europe as soon as possible.

Saludos:)

The club has collapsed because it was run forever on one of the biggest budgets in Colombia, but hasn't been able to adjust since its assets were frozen due to *alleged* links with organized crime.

Its heart breaking to see what's happened for me because America is what originally got me into soccer. I spent all my summers in Cali when I was growing up, and I lived for going to Pascual Guerrero on Wednesdays and Sundays.

yea im from barranquilla but America, Nacional and Millos are also teams I really like because they are our big teams... and is were most our best players have come from or played in and now... they arent the same...

America was amazing 2-3 years ago in copa libs with david ferriera and then they lost sold off their best players and now are awful. Hopefully they can bounce back like Millos is doing because Colombian soccer is changing, all the teams that are in teh copa lib are very very tiny teams... I am just worried that when we get there we are going to get rocked by the big teams of other countries. The only team Im not worried about is Tolima who is traditonally a very strong squad.

Regresa John Alex Cano, Nondier Romero

Salen: Viafara (Paranaense), Valencia (Paranaense), Bustos (Cucuta), Canchila (Cartagena), David Yepes (Cartagena)
