Whats been going on with them two?

I think the latest on these two cities is this:
OKC has had a meeting proposing a stadium design several weeks ago. Haven't heard really anything since then.
Tulsa has recently okayed a $100,000 fact finding survey to see if it would be realistic to build a stadium and where.
Other then this there hasn't been much at all. People bitching about using the $100,000 on a fact finding mission for a stadium is the very latest I've heard on it all.

Looks like Tulsa's feasability study will be privately funded.
The city council balked at using a pre-existing public fund for the study for 2 reasons: the outcry about using $100,000 in public funds to study what is perceived to be a "soccer stadium," the public fund could only be used to study/recommend an "economically disadvantaged" site (downtown, some areas of west and north Tulsa)...

Could the Burn be moving to OKC??? They're still league-owned, right? Lamar has never signed on the dotted line.

I hope the Burn doesn't move. The would be such a great rivarly with OKC. We don't like them a lot, the don't like us a lot. MSL would also be the one area where we'd be on equal footing with Dallas and we'd take any chance we could get of winning and rubbing it in their faces.

The Burn are not going anywhere. More than likely they met in Dallas because MLS officials were in town for other business as well. The Burn have a solid fan base and it is increasing--they wouldn't leave this market to go to OKC.

You Okies are gonna get a lot of ************ here until and unless you learn to spell MLS.

that makes much more sense. I couldn't see moving Dallas either...but if there are people in OKC who want a team, and are willing to buy into the league IF AND ONLY IF the team comes to OKC, then....
But I'm glad it was because Dallas was convenient.

Holy damn I can't believe I wrote MSL. It's one of those cases where you type faster then you think, like when you type .ocm instead of .com and stuff. Dammit I still can't believe I didn't catch that.

Mike, come on, if you remember--I'm not sure if ESPN mentioned it---but it was raining that day and more rain was expected that afternoon.
In any case, the attendance was still over 10,000 (actually 10,505) and I was surprised how many people started showing up 15-20 minutes into the game. Kind of pissed me off because I had plenty of room to spread out (the Cotton Bowl seats are lousy and need to be redone to accomodate people 6ft and taller).
Good thing was the rain stopped and Dallas won 3-1!
BTW--MLS would be making a huge mistake to move out of any current markets. Just when people in cities like LA, Chicago, Dallas, Boston(NE), and DC are really starting to take to their teams. Again, I note my comment that "MLS doesn't want to get into moving teams like other leagues have done."
P.S. I will be at the Burn game tonight to watch them demolish the Revolution!

ooops--what are you in Junior High school or something. Guess you didn't get to watch the game eh?
Yeah, this game had the WORST officiating I have seen ALL YEAR!
You almost have to wonder if the Refs weren't being told to help the REVS into the playoffs---at any cost. VERY VERY BAD OFFICIATING TONIGHT!
I usually don't blame the officials, but you might as well have had the same crew from the NFL that officiated the Raiders/Patsy's playoff game----you know where there was NO forward pass going on and should have been a fumble.
Hmmm, if the Revs don't make the playoffs I guess they(MLS officials) figure the playoff take won't be as good as it will be with them.
Undeniably bad calls tonight!
By the way, we had 17, 600 at the game tonight....
Did you catch that Segroves?

Re attendance: they were 1st in 97 and have slipped steadily since then, year-by-year 2nd, 4th, 4th, and 7th last year.
on placement: they have been average mid-table; their best was 4th overall in 98, their worst 10th in 99. Never top, never bottom, average about 7th.

... maybe it was a lack of finishing... take a few lessons from Twellman and get back with me on that... m'kay...

Oh, you mean the game where the RIGHT CALL was made on a bad rule... kinda like having to give out a red card if you call intentional handball in the box ...
Hmmm, if the Revs don't make the playoffs I guess they(MLS officials) figure the playoff take won't be as good as it will be with them.
oh, yes another nice juicy conspiracy against the Burn... yep, the league has always been FOR the Revolution... look at all the "rigged" games the past 7 years...
Undeniably bad calls tonight!
This doesn't seem to be a problem when you're winning with the help of Gus St. Silva's out of position "hand of God"
By the way, we had 17, 600 at the game tonight....
Aren't these Dallas numbers kinda like computing DOG YEARS?... divide it by seven and you've got the numbers of people who were ACTUALLY THERE...
Did you catch that Segroves?
Don't know about him, but what I caught at the Fire game at the Cotton Bowl was a game that was played in cooler weather with a little "drizzle"-- better than the usual 105 degrees in Dallas on a Saturday afternoon... no excuses plz... atmosphere would have been more exciting at THE CITY MORGUE... at least they wouldn't be playing those friggin' bongo drums...
By the way, if I were Lamar Hunt... I think it'd be something special to be able to tell those people in McKinney and elsewhere that DALLAS IS NOT GUARANTEED TO HAVE A TEAM.
Leave the Dallas market???
Fine. Philly's bigger anyway. Houston seems to want a team. Detroit has a big market. Seattle's salivating for a team. OKC and Tulsa want to build stadiums... AND DALLAS HAS NO OWNER... yet since Hunt lives in Dallas you're somehow entitled to pretend he owns the team. You know what, there's a reason why he owns the Crew and not YOU...
How many other cities in this country have "Cotton Bowl-like" facilities that in the course of 7 years could drum up more fans than the Burn?...
I predict if neither Dallas or KC build SSS in the next few seasons, MLS and Hunt will find some city that DOES...
Oh, and thanks for playing Dallas... we have your resume along with Miami's and Tampa's and KC's and we'll call ya back when you do something to MERIT a franchise (owner, stadium, fans might be a nice start).
