United take a 2-1 lead back to Old Trafford, with the away goals counting double of course.

Same players available as last time, in addition to Ronaldo and Kleberson being rumoured for selection as well.

Provisional squad for United - Howard, Carroll, Ricardo, P Neville, G Neville, O'Shea, Silvestre, Keane, Fortune, Miller, Djemba-Djemba, Fletcher, Kleberson, Scholes, Smith, Giggs, Richardson, Bellion, Ronaldo.

I thought Fortune was crocked, so I don't know how "official" that list is.

We beat them 2-1 at their home, and with a weaker squa than is available now. I forsee a comfortable win. Damn! The battery in my wireless keyboard is dying, it's hard to type.

From skysports:

Meanwhile, Brazilian midfielder Kleberson will play alongside Darren Fletcher in the UEFA Champions League qualifier in midweek as United have tickets to sell on the gate, a rare occurrence at Old Trafford.
The South American is fit enough to start after resuming training last week and Fletcher is free from suspension.

United have extra tickets...

Kleberson is suiting up...

Kleberson and Fletcher will be a very interesting pairing. Neither one is a true AMC or DMC, they both can attack (though Kleberson is better in attack) and they both can hold possession (though Fletcher a little more physical).

Midfield of the future?

Yes, if by future you mean the Carling Cup.

This is my line-up for this match:
---------------Howard-------------
G.Neville--Keane---Silvestre--O'Shea
Ronaldo--Fletcher--Kleberson--Giggs
--------------Scholes--------------
---------------Smith---------------

Opposite teams might not fear Smith playing as the lone striker but look at that 5-man midfield, if Kleberson can rediscover his form, it will be a nightmare for any team to stop their runs. There is so much creativity. ;)

Creativity indeed... so much that Scholes will really be a second striker, and wont be needed to start our attack, but rather just to add the finishing touches... either finishing himself after one of his trademark runs into the box or setting up Smith... I like that midfield... every player in it is a threat to score or set someone else up to... well, Fletcher to a point..

I think Ronaldo will be rested for Saturday's match against Blackburn. DjDj should play as we need more defensive cover for our relatively weak backline. We should get a comfortable win as Dinamo is forced to come out and attack. Also, Giggs may probably play upfront alongside Smith as Dinamo's central defenders are really slow. So here's my lineup:

G. Neville Keane Silves O'Shea

Kleberson Fletcher DjDj Scholes/Giggs

----------- Scholes/Giggs Smith

Considering Bucharest need at least 2 goals to win, I think that Sir Alex will field a pretty defensive minded team, with offensive juggernauts like Ronaldo, Giggs, Scholes, etc on the bench. That way, he can rest key players for the Sat and Mon EPL games, but keep some firepower around in the unlikely case that it is needed against Bucharest.

I take it you don't need an application for the Kleberson Fan Club (KFC)?

I'd like to see a little experimentation to suit the personnel. Keep Ronaldo on the bench, save him for Blackburn.

My line-up:

--------Carroll---------
Neville---Keane-Silvestre--O'Shea
-----------Djemba-Djemba-------
---Fletcher---Kleberson----Giggs---
------------Bellion----Scholes-----
----------------Smith------------

Yes, I know - that's an ugly diagram.

I still think Howard is our #1, but he gets dropped for some truly mediocre recent performances. Competition is good.

I think his best position is what Scholes plays in a 4-5-1, if we go with a 4-4-2, I don't think he would be able to withstand the physical nature of the central midfield in England over the course of a season.

I can't agree with some of the above posts. Last night Liverpool lost 1-0 at Anfield. Fortunately they have a two goal cushion. We don't have that luxury.

Utd should go for a significant win. If they go 3 up THEN they can rest players. You don't play games (pardon the pun) when there's 15 million plus pounds at stake.

Thank god. Then I can leave out Bellion. ;)

I was considering a backline with only 3 - then decided against it, and forgot to change the midfield. Surprised it took that long for someone to notice.

Tempting as it may be to experiment, I think we need to keep in mind that even against weaker opposition, this match is more important than the one against Blackburn. I'd rather see a strong team out for this one.

For what it's worth, here's my prediction:

===========Howard===========

G Neville=Keane=Silvestre=O'Shea

Fletcher=Djemba=Kleberson=Giggs

==========Scholes===========

===========Smith============

With confirmation that Kleberson and Fletcher will both be playing I see this team as the most likely line-up. If it were me picking the team (I wish!) The only differeneces I would possibly make would be to start Bellion on the right, moving Fletcher inside at the expense of Kleberson but that's not going to happen.
I'd also give serious consideration into bringing in Phil Neville to replace O'Shea. From what I've seen so far this season O'shea hasn't been at his best, just like last season. He's pretty much played in a different position in every game so far which couldn't have helped but I'd like to see Phil get a game.

Can't agree with that. Kleberson desperately needs minutes, and he proved to be every bit as good as Fletcher in central midfield last year.

Edit: SAF agrees with me...:-)

I look forward to seeing more from Kleberson. He's still something of a mystery (as are these "long term injuries" Alex talks of there). On the one hand he must have significant talent to make it into a World Cup winning Brazilian team on the other the experience of most South American players is not good in the Premiership. I want to see what he can do in a Utd shirt.

Republic of Mancunia's team looks about right to me.
