Let's do a list with all German players playing abroad, I'm especially interested in prospects.
I didn't know that Sebastian Kneissl was payling in Westerloo now, a Chelsea feeder club.
He maneged to get red-carded in his first game for his new club! :O

Is still at Manu's academy. IIRC he turned out to be not the "megatalent" they thought he could become. But he is still young (17?) and can surely improve.

Where did Markus Much go?
Didn't he used to play for Panathinaikos?
BTW: Moritz Volz played against Fulham at the weekend and will usually start for them...

Hut, Volz and Hitlsperger are all doing a fantastic job with their clubs. I hope Huth gets more playing time at Chelsea though. THese three are great youths for the future of Germany. I think Haman is pretty much done and is being replaced as we speak anyways.

Huth has a tough time ahead. Carvalho obviously will be the favorite of Mourinho in Chelsea, and John Terry will be tough to beat out as well. But he should get starts, heaven knows he has the talent to start for most teams. Maybe a loan to a weaker premiership side would really force the issue.

Here's a thread from 2002:

I watched Portsmouth - Fulham today, nice intense match but poor Volz had a pretty rough day.
The first goal was totally his fault (maybe he ws fouled), nosebleed and then he got fouled directly into the crowd which looked painful, not only for Moritz but also that fan he crashed into. that poor guy had to be carried off on a stretcher.
Do you people think that players like Huth and Volz will play in Germany at all?
I think that they are so used to the English game that they wouldn't want to play anywhere else, it's a pity.

lol....:D - Moritz didnt have the best game....He got a nose-bleed, then a whack in the head by the ball, and then he fell into the crowd and the guy next to the person he hit went balistic....
Went over to apoligise and he turned him away...lol...bad day at the office son... :)

German National team and Bundesliga teams play too old-fashioned and outdated football. Their playstyle has never been chnaged.
Since there was no improvement, Germany always choke in international level.
So, the best way is, German players should go abroad and get experience from overseas.

China's Shanghai team still has Jorg Albertz...funny, I thought he would've been sick of China in a few weeks, but I guess he's doing ok i guess.

There is nothing wrong with that style of play...look at what Greece did with it.

100% agree. Was overseas and saw lots of english games and was totally fascinated after watching the bundesliga every week. The english games are great to watch, fast, every player totally concentrated, the game up and down between the goal posts, no time for the typical fouls in the slower german game, plenty of goals. I thought to myself that there should be more young german players in England "learning" their trade instead of sitting on the bench and having to watch games where the referee whistles every couple of minutes.

Per your request on YA..
I was impressed with Volz last season, not so much this season.
He seems a step slower and a bit more lost this year. He has gotten beaten more this year 1v1....don't know why he is off this year, but I think even he would even admit he played better last year.
When he's on...he a good crosser of the ball, and can get down the right side.
Maybe he's just having an off-season, don't know. Certainly worth considering, but he's been nothing like Mertsacker this year...

I watched the Fulham-B'ham game as well, but take this with a grain of salt since I haven't seen much of Volz elsewhere: initially I thought he was one of the worst players on the team, but his performance improved greatly in the second half. He had a number of good crosses and an incisive pass or two. He'd probably start for a number of national teams, but probably not a first-tier one.

Stefan Klos still plays for Rangers, right? How's he doing there?
Sorry to go off topic, but with Germany's keeper situation, there's no way he'd be national team material, is there?

BUt please do remember those "fascinated" teams won what ??? only 1 trophy in European level in, maybe, 15 years recently, worse than Serie A, Spanish leage, or even not much better France ;) . You guys just know nothing about German football these days. They have changed a lot, playing much more aggressively and offensively. ;)
Bundesliga always have a record of what is called "plenty of goals" and "total concentrated".
Yes, sending players to enrich their experience on other countries is one of the key factor to improve the quality of the domestic league and germany NT when those players return to work as players or coach, sporting director etc.. but stating Bundesliga must send them to England is just too arrogant, i can see that England league is not better than Bundesliga a bit. Each league has its own strength and characteristic. I believe it is wiser to play in as many countries as possible even in the so called weaker leagues ;)
