The can finish under .500 in their remaining games and still win 100 games.
They have three players with an OPS of greater than 1.000, which I don't believe has ever happened (I could be wrong, but I checked dozens of likely suspects).

through 124 games:
they've won 15 of 16 series and 9 straight
they've yet to lose a road series (40-19 away from busch)
they have the MLB leader in HR, R, RBI
the pitchers only walk about 2.5 batters/game
the starters lead the majors in wins and innings per start, and all 5 have at least 9 wins (13, 13 , 12 , 12, 9)
the bullpen has a 3.01 ERA
they have 5 players with at least 72 R, 6 with 20+ doubles, 3 with 30 dingers, 4 with at least 61 RBI,... plus larry walker
if they win tuesday, the REDBIRDS will have had 8 winning streaks of at least 5 games.... since june 1st
they have the best 1B, 3B and CF in baseball
they've come from behind to win too many times to count
they've blown teams out too many times to count
they are 58-21 since the beginning of the CARDINALS thread in my personal forum (see link below :) )

Just posted in Larry Bowa thread, then I come over here and get promptly kicked in the nuts by being reminded of his biggest screw up! You guys should at least say thank you after stealing Rolen. Not surprising that since he doesn't have to deal with douche-bag Bowa, he's having a MVP type year, go figure. I wish Ed Wade and Larry Bowa death by fire, bastards!

A fluke season??? The Cards have been at or near the top of the Central Division for years now. And PLEASE DO NOT EVER COMPARE US TO THE CUBS. That's just asking to get your ass kicked.

I heard all the wild card contenders have banded together and bought Steve Bartman tickets for the remainder of the Cubs home games.

I wish I could agree with this, but I can't. They've been solid all year, have the most consistent offense, the best defense, and surprisingly good starting pitching. They've won 91 games with a month to go in the season; the Cubs won the Central last year with 88 wins. They had a solid team last year, but injuries really hurt them, especially to Izzy.
Of course, all this means nothing if the bats go cold for three days in early October.

The season's been sold out since March. Nice try, though.

That totally understates their accomplishments.
Player G AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI BB K SB CS AVG OBP SLG OPS
Jim Edmonds 128 426 93 132 34 2 39 101 85 127 4 3 .310 .424 .674 1.098
Albert Pujols 128 501 117 167 38 2 43 106 68 41 5 4 .333 .413 .675 1.088
Scott Rolen 130 465 101 150 30 4 32 116 63 84 4 3 .323 .413 .611 1.024
Without a doubt, the best three player offensive combo in the entire history of major league baseball.
Still, we'll beat you in the World Series :D

The Cardinals are certainly having a great year. I just hope they finish strong and not lose out early in the playoffs like some other teams with great records have done.

That's what I don't like about 5 game series. Also, the Cards pitching is excellent, but not concentrated in a few aces. This is great for the regular season, but not for the playoffs where a few pitchers can play a high % of games (because of all the off-days).
I'll be rooting for the Cardinals to win the pennant. I'm hoping to root against them in the World Series!

To quote Too Short...nigg@ pleeeease. The Giants went wire to wire last year (weak division, yes, but we still had a great team) and ended up getting near swept in the first round of the playoffs.

The Cards are the real deal ben. The only two teams that can give them a run for the money are the Yanks and Bosox. If they can make a nice run right up and into the playoffs, they have the best shot at winning the WS. What else can you say about guys like Pujols and ROlen? They're both great.
I am a little surprised though that they got rid of Tino M so fast. I thought he would have been an nice fit for them
