Only real question is HoseMe's availability. Aloso and garcia were not registered in time for this fixture;

Lineup (assuming HoseMe out)

---------Dudek( no choice with Kirkland injured, again!)
Carragher----H--H---JAR
Finnan----Hamann---SG --Kewell
------Baros----Cisse

Subs:
Harrison
FSP
Warnock
Biscan
Diao

As always have at it!

Maybe Diou for Josemi.
From one of the threads I thought I read that Diao replaced Josemi for the city game. Finnan who may be transferred may not get a start for obviuous reasons.
Besides, I just dont like his play recently.
Would also like to see Henchoz get his confidence and Raffa's confidence also.

Perhaps some key players will be rested. No matter what team we put out there should be able to hold a 2-0 lead at home. But I suppose its early enough in the season that everyone should be fit to play mid week and again this weekend.

I'll fancy Rafa to field a 2nd string side to preserve the energy of the regulars. with this lineup, we prolly still come out on top!!

Finnan---Hamann---Biscan---Warnock
---------FSP - Baros

Josemi---Hyypia---Carragher---Riise
kold_77_krush---Gerrard---Biscan---Kewell
---------SuperElf - Baros Ooo me, Ooo me, can I be a second half sub for krush or Elf? Puh-leeeeeeeezzzzzzzz.

Seriously . . .
TruReds, get some sleep ;). There's no way Stevie doesn't start. We still not in the all important CL proper, which is very vital financially (and for making players like Stevie want to stay at Anfield). This is no time to assume this is in the bag. Rest (sub out) players after we add a goal or two.

Flying Weasel u r prolly right. now that Gerrard was feeling the pressure after the departure of MO:

maybe, just maybe Rafa wanna reassure Gerrard that the burden of scoring goal shouldn't rest too much on his shoulders, his selection excluding Gerrard could prove lethal enough to calm his worry? :D

---------SuperElf - BarosThanks for the heads up. I'll be sure to eat my Wheaties tomorrow morning.

So I AM in the Heskey role, just as was discussed for the BS Liverpool XI Select. Or whatever we are calling ourselves. I'll do my best to stay on my feet, in the center of the park. This IS a big money game.

I DO bet FSP starts, and either Warnock or Henchoz. (Probably the latter, as we will have enough midfield depth once the Spaniards get registered. Whoa. I just read that last sentence slowly, recalling that we only had three midfielders 10 days ago.)

The standard of left back I play now would be "left back in the dressing room" :D

Coming back to the game, I don't think this is like a League Cup match against Hull. We can blood players in those matches, this one is completely about seeing us through to the money rounds. Now if its 2-0 at the half, then certainly get the Captain and Baros off. But not until then!

I agree with this...too much to leave to chance.

Interesting --- 4-5-1. Perhaps. This will be a test of how Rafa thinks about European nights at Anfield. Attack or defend. I think the 4-5-1 would be more likely away in the round robin rounds.

Today's Guardian suggests the following:

Liverpool (4-4-2; probable): Dudek; Finnan, Hyypia, Carragher, Riise; Kewell, Gerrard, Biscan, Warnock; Sinama-Pongolle, Cissé.

Let me just express my gratitude in advance to who(or whom)ever does the commentary today. I'll be following until the half, at which time I have to go to a meeting. Let's hope we've already killed off this whole thing by then with a couple of early goals.
