Despite the articles about Osorio, Chivas says that he is not a candidate, and that the decision will be made by September 1st. The article speculates that the choice will be Juan Carlos Ortega. Also, Chivas director Hans Westerhof will attend the Galaxy-Fire game this Saturday to assess the level of play; he now believes it's different from what he previously thought, perhaps a bit higher.

Did these guys ever watch a MLS game before they bought a team? Are they now thinking to themselves, "Crap. I don't think we can just trot out a hispanic team now. I think we actually might have to get good players to win."

A this guy is going to go to one game to asses the level of play?

A this guy is going to go to one game to asses the level of play?Especally when the match is between LA (new coach) and Chicago (um...they've been better). Hamilton should have invited him last week for the match against C'bus. That would have lowered his expectations even lower. ;)

It's easy to see how Chavs got that impression. If you think of the history of Chivas playing MLS teams, they were mostly exhibition games and the MLS teams didn't take them very seriously. And as for the COCACAF Champions Cup, I think most MLS players considered them almost as important as signing autographs at a new gas station.

Thanks for doing the news, Wally.

I noticed that it was 9:20am and it wasn't done like normal so I just went ahead and did it. For those that normally do it I'm not trying to crowd in on ya. Feel free to pick up where you left off.

"Four of the five Arizona products who have played in Major League Soccer trained under Dabo. Local legends Pablo Mastroeni, Evan Whitfield, Scott Garlick, Stacey Tullock and Tara Koleski have trained with Dabo."

Umm, when did Stacey and Tara play in MLS? They must have played for (insert your own most hated team here).

Any way to crosspost this to the MLS N&A subforum? It's much easier for me and maybe others to get to these threads there. Thanks for the post.

i don't get that article about schmid.. the guy wonders why the galaxy fired sigi and then answers his own questions w/o realizing it.. the Galaxy have been successful at everything except for winning the cups. and schmid was a big part of that, both the success (winning percentage and reaching the various cup finals) and the failures (winning the mls cup once out of 3 tries, last season's record, getting booted out of the open cup this year, etc.). so what the guy is saying is, the coach you have hasn't shown the ability to win the cup consistently but you shouldn't be firing him until after you win a lot of cups? makes no sense.. if we won consistently with sigi, we wouldn't need to fire sigi.
w/ sigi in there, the galaxy might have ended up in 1st but we would have lost the cup anyways. better to bring in a coach who can take us all the way. i'm not sure this is necessarily what happened, but i think sigi's time w/ the galaxy was over. if the galaxy are going to reach the next level, we're not gonna be able to do it w/ sigi at the helm. IMO.

It's exciting that the Bonham Group is in charge of selling MLS stadium naming rights, and that they've had "great success"

Except that they've been in charge of seeking Crew Stadium naming rights since 1999 and have yet to close a deal.

If I had a SSS, I think I'd look for somebody else.
