First of all, welcome.
This is the Liverpool FC forum of Bigsoccer. As you may have noticed, given that you are reading this after having clicked on the "Liverpool" link on the Bigsoccer forum menu. ;)
I'm your friendly local moderator. Any problems, please use the Private Messaging service to contact me. I will do what I can for you. There's another mod with an annoyingly hard-to-remember numerical username around here somewhere too, if things get really desperate.
Before you jump in and tussle around in the many fascinating threads that we have created for yourselves, it pays to know a few things about us. So here's a little intro.
There's a set of regulars (as is the case with most internet threads) who have been combining here to make this the place it is for a number of years now. And there's a wider set of people who drop by more occasionally, but who are familiar figures.
Whichever you intend to be (you've probably not given it a moment's thought), you need to understand one thing: we pride ourselves on the quality of the discourse. The depth of understanding, the refined nature of our perspective on all things LFC specifically, but also on footballing matters generally.
Which means one thing for you, the Newbie: we tend to react with fairly unreserved venom to anyone who posts something that is wilfully stupid or intentionally provocative. It's called "trolling" in Internet-speak, as I'm sure you know and trolling gets a very, very short thrift around here.
I, as mod, will delete any posts or threads that are obvious trolls. I will also have users who persist with such things locked out of this forum.
Having said that, this is not meant to be a forbidding place - if you reckon you like the sound of a place where all the contributors feel a shared sense of responsibility for the quality and standards of the discussions taking place and you reckon you could become part of such a group, then you will find no more amenable a place on Bigsoccer. Or, indeed, anywhere else.
No, I realise this all sounds a bit anally retentive and perhaps a little overwrought for what is, after all, only an Internet message board. But necessity commands, I'm afraid. Some of the natives have been getting ratty - unduly so in some cases - with newbies and that is not good for anyone. So I hope you understand this message and the spirit within which it is written. If you reckon this is your sort of place and you also reckon you have something to offer that will interest the discerning bunch of people that are already here, then I am sure everyone joins me in welcoming you and saying that I look forward to seeing what you have to say about the mighty, mighty Reds.
YNWA.
