This is a nice way of asking who has the best attack in premiership.
We all know that the likes of Henry, Shearer, RVN and company are great strikers and poacher extraordinaires, but are they part of premiership goalmachine DUOs???

Granted during course of season these first choice partnerships may change, but at the time of posting these are the sixteen best i could come up with, Norwich, WBA and Crystal Palace aren't even considered because i know very little about their duos.

Charlton Atletic also left out because i only had space for 16 and charlton happened to be number 17 to me.

Chelsea i am going with a duo of Drogba and Gudjohnsen, even though Kezman and Mutu are excelllent i figure Mourinho's initial picks would be Drogba and Gudjohnsen.

ALAN SHEARER & CRAIG BELLAMY is best combination for me.....

Shearer is one of the finest finishers i have ever been priviledged to see (he can use those elbows physically imposing old mold forward).
Bellamy is quick and fiery, poses trouble for defenders WHEN FIT.....

That tandem is just the best for me on form.

Gudjohnsen and Drogba, would like to see Kezman more.
Baros and Cisse, such great promise. Cisse hasn't convinced me but he's getting there.
RVN and Saha too similiar.
Viduka and Hasselbaink too similiar.
Henry and Bergkamp both brilliant but neither is a poacher, if HENRY was he could have 40 goals a year easy.
Forssell and Heskey, well there's Heskey involved.
Angel and Vassell, well there's Vassell involved. (best at international game)
Pedersen and Davies, mediorce.
Beattie and Phillips, nice, but not great.
Yakubu and Lua-Lua, too similiar.
Rooney and Bent, ok at best.
Cole and John, hmm....
Stead and Gallagher, both nice young players, maybe too young.
Anelka and Fowler, best years gone for both.
Keane and Defoe, could be really good.

i hope kluivert sneaks his way in and breaks up this partnership. it sucks though cuz i really like ameobi and i like shearer, but i dont see kluivert doing well with either.

I'm staggered that Geoff Horsefield and Scott Dobie haven't made the selection.

The best strike forces are those that combine a striker, who plays off the shoulder of the last defender, with a second striker, who drops deep. The problem is that the aren`t many second strikers about. Bergkamp, Angel, Keane and Rooney are the only players who can drop into midfield and link up the play.

It`s sometimes easier to say which partnerships won`t work, Beattie/Phillips, Anelka/Fowler and Baros/Owen leave themselves isolated from the rest of the team because they`re always looking to make runs in behind the defence, rather than accept a pass with their back to goal. The result is a hole between the midfield and the front two.

The kind of players who play in the hole tend to be regarded has the most skillful and influential: Cantona, Bergkamp, Sheringham, Raul, Baggio and Zola examples from the last 10 years. I could add Yorke and Kanu who weren`t as good but not far off.

In the EPL next year Keane, Angel and Rooney will be the best second strikers unless Reyes, Kewell and Saha are given that role, and can do it.

THANKS!!!
Wasn't sure so guessed Norweigan, was bout to leave him off and post the Charlthon DUO, but he scored twice this weekend and Bolton are well supported enough.
Knew he was SCANDINAVIAN.

It's very simple.
Henry plus Anyone one who can walk= Best Duo.. :)

I think that Shearer-Bellamy and Bergkamp-Henry are such great pairs because they work so well together and compliment each other. Each can do what the other can't, and Shearer is great at playing those quick little headers through to Bellamy with his back to goal, and Bergkamp can set up anyone from practically anywhere on the field it seems like, as well as score.

i posted this a few days ago in another forum. i want full credit.

Bergkamp has been distributing the ball so well in the last several games, I can't imagine that AW will slot in anyone to replace him. At this point in his career, Bergkamp is much more a second line striker.

Let's wait 'til Rooney has at least a ten goal season in the Premier League before declaring him a God, which so many seem to be doing already.. ;)

I'd say Van Nistelrooy and Louis Saha. When they are finally fit.

Chelsea have a good bunch of forwards (kezman ,mutu ,drogba and gudjohnesen) .Any combo of those guys would be a top class partnership .

My feeling is this topic will change more and more as the season goes. So far i have to conclude the Henry and Bergkamp partnership is the best. They have always played well together, Henry could play great with anyone but Bergkamp and him just seem to have that good feeling for each other.

The Drogba-Gudjohnsson or kezman and Mutu pairing needs more time like other pairings i think.
