View Full Version : Stupid Uniform Question

Is there some sort of league-wide uniform code for players with tattoos? Watching David Beckham play in the friendly yesterday got me wondering, because he seemed to be the only player with long sleeves on. Just like I have never seen Gary Speed play in short sleeves. Is it because of an excess of ink on their arms (or maybe offensive or distracting artwork), personal preference, or a league requirement. I've seen plenty of players with tattoos play in short sleeves, but it's typically Celtic or Japanese letters that are uncovered, not pictures.

Thx,

Jay!

I think at most clubs, wearing long or short sleeves is up to the player on the day. I know that at Arsenal, the captain chooses which type of shirt the players will wear on the day and the rest of them have to toe the line. I'm not sure why or when it started, but it's something of a tradition now.

Beckham does it to make his girly arms look bigger.
