Who is today's best #10 player? Being Italian, I'm going to have to choose Totti, although I know that whoever isn't Italian doesn't appreciate Totti like we Italians do.

I personally think that Totti was the best in the 2003-04 season around the world. He was simply magic for Roma and scored 20 goals in Serie A to finish 3rd in scoring.

Ronaldinho, Valerón, Zidane, Totti...
They are all playing like no.10 but they're not very similiar so it's hard to tell who's best. Anyway I think these players are the most creative ones of all no.10s.

I wouldn't say that D'Alessandro is the best in the world, he is not even world class. He just dribbles to much. He can do that in the argentinian leauge, but in Germany he often just gets knocked off by the defenders, because he doesn't pass the ball quick enough.

I don't see Zidane, Nedved or Deco as #10's, they are creative midfielders. A #10 is somebody like Ronaldinho, Kaka, Raul, Robbie Keane, etc - a forward who sets up the #9 (striker) more than he goes for goal himself.
Schevchenko & Henry are a bit of both, very hard to type-cast (1 #9.5 or #9-&-a-half?)

So are we speaking of the metaphorical #10 -OR- actual #10's then? If we are speaking metaphorically then I would change my answer to say the best #10 is Ronaldinho.
