how many people saw the robbery? Mexico's first goal against Greece and the ref declared it offside. The goal scorer wasnt even close to the keeper. I can teach a soccer newbie the offside rule and I bet you he would spot this robbery in an instant (it was that obvious) It was the most obvious robbery I have ever seen. Don't give me the excuse that the ref is a moron. He might be corrupt, he might come from africa (which could be an excuse to him being a bad ref, bad leagues) or he could be trying to help out the hosts of the olympics.

We saw this happen in Korea/Japan. I hope that all the skeptics will shut up and face the fact that the game is dirty, and that the soccer authorities (FIFA, olympic committe) give instructions to the refs to help out the hosts. Happened in Korea/Japan, it happened today, and it will happen in Germany 06.

Help the host?? The host are out. They finished last in their group.

I don't know about this game but they were suspicious about the other game S. Korea vs. Mali... They said Korea came back from 3 goals down to tie within 7 min. They scored 3 goal in 7 min? I didn't watch this game. Is it true?

Greece being out doesn't matter. The ref was helping the hosts in this match, and it was so obvious that a 10 year old kid could tell.

now I read in bigsoccer that the ref disallowed a second goal? I turned telemundo off after the first disallowed goal.

Yep, it's true. Mali is absolutely atrocious in terms of defending crosses. All three of Korea's goals were off of crosses... though the third one was an own goal. Great, powerful header by the Mali defender into the upper corner. I think he was trying to clear it out for a corner, but man, it was a beauty.

As for the Mexico-Greece game, I caught the highlights of it, and if what you're referring to is the play that I think it is, the Mexican player was clearly offside. But maybe I'm not thinking of the same play.

Doesn't matter anyway, since Mexico won.

Yep... Mexico could have won 50000000000000000000000000000000 to 0 and still be out. It depended on the other game. Even during the Mexico-Greece game they would go to the other game and show that neither Mali or Korea were looking for the win after they tied. They mexican commentators were pissed. I think they said the the own goal Mali scored was too good to be an accident.

i have a friend who also thinks the same thing and has a list of conspiracy theories. he constantly says that the game is getting more and more corrupt. (no one believes it, buts its entertaining to hear it. kinda like tabloids.)
the incidents include-

the france world cup- he says someting about france not deserving the world cup and even less winning it. he said platini had something to do with it. then in an interview, ronaldo actually admitted something happened before the final , but wasn't willing to talk about it. he said brazil sold out and platini had something to do with it.

2002 in korea/japan. - gus hiddink promises a semifinal berth for the koreans, and sure enough with fifa's help(bad reffing), they do. then in the semi final, they're on their own, and turkey scores a goal almost instantly. he says it was all a part of a fifa campaign to be more popular(hence, mroe money for fifa.) in asia.

beckham being transferred to real madrid- he said this was done because manchester switched from umbro to nike, and adidas couldn't have beckham selling jerseys for nike. so he transfers to an adidas team(real madrid) in an attempt to have the highest profitable team in the world.

-also, when fifa was voting for the venue of the 2006 world cup, teh vote was tied and the only person who was undecided was the head of the oceanic confederation. he refuses to vote and resigns, and the last vote goes to franz beckenbauer, who votes for germany.

-in the past euro cup, sweden and denmark tie 2-2 which is what needed to happen for both of them to pass and italy to be eliminated. he claims the 'nordic victory' was fixed.

once again, these are his words not mine. even though it all sounds like crazy talk, it's entertaining to hear what he has to say.
