Just looking at the goals from 2003-2004 season .. that's a nice collection I must say ... pretty good site overall.

How is Eric Carriere faring ? I have heard he's the captain, is that so ?

Yes, apparently L'Equipe rated ours the best Ligue 1 site for whatever that is worth

Indeed, Carriere is the captain and is doing very well at this early stage. He is the playmaker we missed so much last season. The other purchases (Cubilier, Leroy, Cousin, Gillet, Hilton) have all made a big impact as well. Right now the team spirit seems quite high, this even before our decent start.

Hopefully, he'll be back (Carriere) with Les Bleus if Lens continues to do well ;)

I dont think it would be silly for Lens to expand. Marseille is silly because they already got the 60,000 Lens could fill 50,000-55,000 places I think. Shalke 04 in Germany is like Lens in that they are a regional team that draws heavily from outside the city they play in. If Shalke's stadium can have 60,000 places Lens can have at least 50 k

Perhaps, I just don't think it's something the club are thinking about. If they were to expand it that much '97 would have been the time to do it.

We are a well supported club, particularly given our population (of both the city itself and the surrounding area) but I still think 50+ would be a mistake. We average in the mid 30s, we could get 50 if we were at the top of the league but when times aren't quite that good I'd rather have an almost full 41,000 seat stadium as oppossed to a 2/3 filled 50+ seat stadium.

le texte je c'est pas de quand il date

il parler d'agrandir Bollaert

http://www.lequipetv.fr/Football/RCL_Avenir_Audio.html

http://www.equipe.fr/Football/20040817_232045_01.html

Merci d'avance

How many Africans do they have now ? I remember they sold a bunch of them.

They have off loaded some and are still trying to sell/loan others (Bakari for example). Right now in the squad there is Utaka, Keita, Diane, Coulibaly, Assou-Ekotto (I believe has dual citizenship between France and Cameroon), Kaïssi, Sarr (on his way out soon it would appear), Bakari (being shopped around England quite a bit), N'Diaye (again dual citizenship I believe France-Senegal), and Bouden. The first five or so figure into the future plans from what I can tell but the rest are not really first team players.

Note that no Africans were purchased this summer. Martel has said there is still room for African players at the club but there needs to be better balance in the future.

I think RC Lens is a really great club. I just think they could use a new stadium eventually thats all. Lille's new stadium will be better because it will be more modern. Bollaert may look good on the inside but from the outside it doesnt look too good. It doesnt look as good as the Parc de Prince.

Well said... :) I really do think French football stadiums are ugly. Most of them are... Parc des Princes is nice inside - but i dunno - it looks really freaky from the outside - i can't describe it. Anyways, if Marseille increased the capacity to 80,000 they would fill it every week. They have the most boistrous and large support in France. Although PSG is a big club, we don't get the large crowds for most games. I think Lyon would have trouble filling a large stadium like this. Some of the best games I have been to in france have been at small tight venues, like Montpellier or Metz. Auxerre's ground is good too...Must admit Lille's new stadium surely must match their european culture award thing....

What i like about Lille's ground was they had standing.... Absoultely brilliant, the laws in france regarding terraces are more lenient than in the UK... Sadly I will miss them....
