I think you're forgetting Marcos fairly quickly.

Marcos is a great goalkeeper but his is injuried for a long and I think Ceni is more complete than Marcos. But Marcos is awesome too.

Of those keepers, its definitley Friedel, without a doubt. Keller doesn't make amazinf saves, Howard still hasn't proved himself consistently and Barthez makes hilarious errors.

Friedel, is a great shot stopper or all kinds, and good in one on ones.

Kahn wasn't even the best of his generation.

I'd have to say Buffon's the best right now... in about 3-4 years... it'll be a toss up between Akinfeev from russia and Ochoa from mexico. And maybe Kasper Schmichael will be among those, who knows.

what are you talking about??? best goalkeeper in 1999, 2000, 2001 and 2002. THE BEST GOALKEEPER EVER.

I like the idea of this poll, but the choice list is strange... 3 Americans (2 of which are on past peak) plus BartHez thrown in??!

If you meant "best in the world" then I don't think these 4 would honestly make the top 10. I like Tim Howard... maybe he'd have a chance of making the top 10 if he brought his game up a notch in quality & consistency.

Maybe there should be a new thread made ("Best Keeper II") with a list of 10 serious contenders, including obvious front-runners like Buffon & Cech.

The problem w/ such a poll is that it's biased towards the leagues who get the most TV time, like EPL & Serie A.

Please note that it's also 4 years old

Aha... obviously did NOT notice that!! Seems a little absurd that a poll thread entitled "best goalkeeper right now" would still be open for voting 3 years later.

But at least that puts the list in context. Howard was at ManU, Barthez having just been ousted. Keller was at So'ton & Friedel was closer to his peak at Rovers.

One funny thing. If you Wikipedia Barthez it says his full name = "Worst goalkeeper alive". VERY funny... not too far from the truth.

Anyway I like the idea for the thread but I think it should be wiped and started afresh w/ 5-10 serious choices.
