You're right Hal, since we're going from the bottom up, it's a disadvantage to the more active teams to have those points added back in, and I'm still against it for the same reason. And actually, it looks like the rule would affect my team, so it might seem I'm biased, but I don't see any reason not to simply use our regular points standings.

This should make the draft order:
1 Trollpop
2 Jones Cracked Wheat
3 London St. Germain
4 FOMUS
5 1-800 UK.com
6 Chelsea in PA
7 Kopite Jrs.

* If we get any response from Cape Trib, we'd need a tie breaker between him and Jon for the 3rd spot. But I"m doubting it will be necessary.

** I'm pretty sure this is the same as the list would look under Hal's system, unless Cape Trib shows back up, in which case he'd be above me for the 2nd slot.

As for other stuff, I agree that players go right back into the player pool after being dropped.

As for players CYKI has yet to make active. We could draft the "rights" to them for as soon as they become available. This might get tricky, as the person would still have to clear a player off their roster, and so would have to use up a transfer on a "loan" player until the new signee comes aboard.

I agree with Michel that those sold to make room for any new draftees should go into the draft pool.

I may be more interested in the discarded players than the draft choices and as I go last, the draft choices will be well picked over by then.

Date and time we do this doesn't matter, I will make myself available. No coaching commitments in this cold weather. My 3 girls are still busy enough with Christmas toys to leave Dad alone on the computer for a while :)

Just got back home after the holidays, so here are some thoughts on the draft discussion:

1. I have the very great privilege of chaperoning a high school dance on Friday night so won't be available at all on that day to do a draft. I'd really like to participate, so can we consider doing it on the 11th rather than the 10th?

2. I agree that discarded players should be added to the draft pool. There could be some interesting players dropped and many of us might end up looking to that pool in later rounds.

3. I like Hal's proposal that we have a "pre-draft" for teams who lose players. There have been no stories but I have this feeling that Kewell will be leaving us.

4. I prefer Jay's proposed draft order. Transfer points have been a major consideration for me all season; I make careful choices in order to avoid losing points and I drop from 3rd to 5th in the draft if this adjustment is made, getting only 8 points added to my total. Of course I also prefer a draft order where I choose earlier so my opinion is a bit biased...

5. Regarding players who enter the CYKI system after the 10th, it seems logical that they be off limits until the second draft on the 31st.

Finally, I'm unable to log in to the premiership site today. Anyone else having the same problem?

* Means cleared to play. Either has a European passport or has gotten the Work Permit clearance.

Loan agreed to in December to take effect in January:
*1. Defender Ferdinand Coly [Lens - Birm'ghm] Loan

Jan 2:
*2. French WC Striker Christophe Dugarry [Bordeaux - Birm'ghm] 3. Loan
*4. USA WC Striker Brian McBride [Columbus Crew - Everton] Loan
*5. Egyptian Defender Ibrahim Said [Al Ahly - Everton] Loan

Jan 3:
6. Algerian Midfielder Djamel Belmadi [Bordeaux - Man City] Loan

Current news/rumors as of 1/7:

*7. Wingback James Clapham [Ipswich - Birm'gham]
*8. Argentinian Winger Federico Arias [Velez Sarsfield - Southhampton]

I did not count the changing of teams within the Premiership as new arrivals for this transfer draft. (i.e. Bowyer and Clemence) Nor did I record the few players who have been transferred out of the Premiership as they were not held by any of our managers.

There are other rumors of transfers which may not be concluded by the Friday night draft. I propose that a manager can use his draft pick on a speculative basis at the Jan 7 draft.

Let's go with the draft order as proposed by Jay and with Outback Maverick's team inserted at #3. I tossed a coin to choose between London St. Germain and Cape Tribulation for # 3 draft slot.

1. Trollpop Aviation
2. Jones Cracked Wheat
3. Cape Tribulation (won coin toss with LSG)
4. London St. Germain
5. FOMUS
6. 1-800 UK.com
7. Chelsea in PA
8. Kopite Jrs.

I also like the idea that any players dumped to acquire the draftees go into the draft pool. After the draft is over, then any manager can sign waived and undrafted players. We'll have a second version of this draft on 1/31.

As for the time. Being aware that some are on travel and that Michel is in Switzerland, how about we start at 6 PM EST or 11 PM GMT. Please email me at haljudijones@earthlink.net or PM me with your proxy and druthers if you can't make the draft. Please identify which player(s) you will be releasing to acquire the player should your draft choice pan out.

None of the transfers have shown up in the Fantasy.premierleague.com fantasy soccer game as of 1/7. So we still don't know the price for these players.

With all the managers that will have difficulty participating in this transfer window draft, and with NONE of the previously mentioned 8 new signees yet to appear on the fantasy.premierleague.com listings, why don't we postpone this draft until the end of the transfer window and do one after all the chips are known?

So all new arrivals are off limits until Jan 31?

That's a shame, I was looking to strengthen my squad with some duds..... :(

Waiting makes sense to me. Surely still some players to come, so why not wait until they're all in, especially if people can't make the Friday session.

Waiting would be my vote too.

Especially as they are not in the premierleague.com system anyway.

Week 5: (Jan 11)
3 vs 1 and 4 vs 2

Kopite Juniors vs 1800-UK.Com
Cape Tribulation vs FOMUS

Chelsea in PA vs London St. Germain
Trollpop Aviation vs Jones Cracked Wheat

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A win for Cape Tribulation against FOMUS would mean 1800-UK.com also qualify.
1800-UK.com will qualify with another point on the board.
Jones Cracked Wheat, looking for two more wins, could still help to decide the outcome of this group.
Chelsea in PA need to beat London St. Germain to be sure of qualification.
Wins for London St. Germain and Jones Cracked Wheat would take things to the wire.
Tiebreakers for group standings are:
1. Goal difference
2. Head to head results
3. Toss a coin
