Redknapp didn't play...and in comes Guddy with 10 points for the auto sub :)
Touch of flu for Redknapp was it?
What are we going to do for the rest of the season after the cups end?
Champions league format for the 8 teams?
4 teams per group..top two advance to semis maybe?
There would be plenty of games left to run it out.

Spurs need the three points to take fourth spot in the FA Premiership table though.....
Half of Glenn Hoddle is happy, the other half needs a little more from The Lillywhites.

Well, what do ya expect from a CHELSEA fan mate.

We've been talking about underperforming players and what an unusual season it has been so far... I was just thinking about how much I've been desperately restructuring my midfield, trying to figure out why... well I have figured out why; I'm trying to balance the low scoring I'm suffering up front. Who, you ask, is responsible for this situation? Why, none other than the first overall pick, Ruud Van Nistelrooy.

I'd be glad to help to do this.
I certainly have lots of free web space to post any fixtures/tables, etc.
My work web site only has 52,000 pages on it, so I have a few pages to spare :)

By all means then...if nobody objects that is.

About to listen to the Reds play Basel, after that I'll come up with a suggested format. Unless you have ideas already.

Well we have Ajax-Inter on here in KC.
So I'll have to settle for the web site audio from Liverpool.

No, none at all Mark.
I just wanted to see if we could get something going to keep the interest up in the whole.
You did an excellent job on the big soccer league so i'm sure whatever you come up with will be good.
The only problem i see is deciding who actually goes into which of the two groups.
I'm off to watch the Ajax game on ESPN....
BTW...good luck to your scousers

More Italians and Dutch over there than Brits and Swiss?
This Swiss German comentator is a bit dodgy though :(
Great atmosphere...... Basel fans have streamers in the air.... and the teams are coming out...

Anyone have an idea how we can encourage more trading between teams? That was one thing I was hoping would develop in doing this league, but the transfer cost pretty much makes it undesirable.
If we can keep a solid core group together, we could experiment next year with only counting Raw Scores toward league standings, as we do with the Cups. This might free us up to try more swaps of 2-3 players at a time. I'd also like to expand by 2 teams or so, which would probably also help keep us further below the salary cap.
Also, I'd like to offer up some type of prize for League Champion. We could each kick in $5 and the winner would get a gift certificate to a pub in his area? Best Buy? A soccer store? Ideally, it would be nice if managers had to balance their Cup strategies with the primary long term goal of winning the league, just as in real life. So far, I think everyone has done that pretty well.
Finally, I notice that Cape Tribulation has only made a single transfer, way back in September.

Sorry for the delay on this, I am still gutted from Tuesday.
Easiest format is to draw our 8 teams into two groups of 4. Each plays each other twice and top 2 from each group goes through to semis, then final.
As for how we split the groups, if you trust me (ha ha) I could put all names in a hat and draw them, or we could do a live draw by me assigning numbers and you guys pick numbers via a chat or some other format.
I don't think we can "seed" teams so a blind draw seems best.

Will the schedules be up for this weekend?

I was going to wait until the current contests are over if that's ok.
The live draw was kind of a joke just cos our live draft was such a long drawn out affair. But fun while it lasted.
After our cup finals (in two weeks time?) I'll pull together a Champs League thing. If someone else wants to do this before then I wouldn't mind at all.
I was thinking we were going to avoid overlapping them.

That is what i had in mind when i originally floated the idea a few posts back.
Head to head for the group would only require 6 weeks to complete and then at most another 6 for the semi-final and final itself.
12 weeks in all to complete, so we have lots oftime left to play.
