I've visited Paris several times, but I've never seen or heard anyone speak of their ground. Anyone know where in the city it is, or if they have an official website?

They're fielding a lot of their reserve players but they still managed to win this past weekend. Congradulations to them.

They play in "stade du Manoir" a Colombes.
In the beginning (early 1900), they were known as racing club de France then switched to Racing club Paris when turned pro.
And then came Lagardere (Matra) in 1982.
It took less than 10 years for the whole thing to go down the drain. In the glory days, they were a div 1 Paris club sharing Parc des Princes with PSG. They had a pretty good team on paper but they never did much except in cup matches.
After the fall,
they went back to the original name and added a 92 for the department (hauts de Seine).
They are in big trouble with the federation and it's a miracle they can still play and win :)
That club has gone through a lot and I support it wholeheartedly.
Gotta love the sky blue and white hoop shirt. Lots of history.

Le stade du-Manoir in Colombes was built in 1924 for the olympiads. It was also used for WC 38 final.
If you have seen the movie 'Victory' with Stallone and Co, it is the stadium where they play the "game".
du-manoir is the name of a famous rugby player btw. The stadium used to be known as simply the 'stade de Colombes' before they renamed it.

Yeah - i lived not far from their stadium...
They were a good team actually, not as good as PSG. Its sad that Paris only has one main inner city rival. I love the fact London has about 8-6 teams compteting in the Premier League at anyone time. Same with Moscow...
Does anyone remember or actually watched Red Star 93 - who play in the 93rd arrondissment - in Saint Denis? I think they play in the local amateur parisian league now - i can't remember.
They used to be big in the early 20's....

Red Star
Another "great" Parisian club that went down the drain ...
Well,
Safet Susic of PSG fame played there at the end ...
and does the name Steve Marlet ring a bell ?

Another parisian club that spiraled out of control is:
Paris FC !!!
Carlos Bianchi, the Reims player, was the coach there for one year before going to Boca junior :)

All I could find is this:

in french
If I remember correctly, they were in league 1 in early eighties or late seventies ... Now, they are CFA group D (amateur national).
sorry, no official web site considering the history of the club .. a shame if you ask me.

just a few more words on RED STAR 93 ... they are the St Ouen club.
here is a good site about them (in french):
http://www.allezredstar.com
They are now playing in DH, which is below CFA 2 ... which is pretty pathetic, one has to say.

Pathetic yes but I tend to think that if they really did have a lot of supporters then they wouldnt have fallen as far as they did. A club with a large and loyal following just doesnt fall that far. I mean the 6th division ?? Come on now that crazy !

Consider the story of my hometown club FC MANTOIS 78 (formerly known as CAMV) in Mantes la Ville (Yvelines) ...
in mid 70s, they were playing division 2 football, one step away from the big one ... The stadium could seat 15,000 (was built when they reached D2) and was pretty much full every saturday night ...
I don't know what happened but slowly and surely they went all the way down to the lowest divisions ... at that point, not too many people cared about the club ... A 15,000 seater with nobody on the stands.
A few years back, somebody with a passion for the club took over (we used to go see games together when I was a kid), merged a couple of clubs in the area together, got some money from the town and region, and now they're back in CFA.
Good story, heh.
Who's gonna care about Paris FC and the likes unless they used to go the games when they were a kid with their dad (or without). I don't think there's much money to be made knowing that the fan base is not there, so the investors are scarce. The only monies come from the town and region, and you know they give as little as they can.

Red Star, Racing CF, Créteil. Thoses three teams were in competition to play in the "stade de France" some times ago (96-99) i could guess. The three team failed, and were relegated in lower division...
Pity Paris won't have the second big team like many others capital of europe have... (Madrid, London).

Creteil has almost no fan base and we've alread talked about the others having either financial difficulties and/or being in the lower ranks.
It would take a miracle to have a second viable team in Paris. Maybe merge clubs together but you need to build a solid fan base and investors.
The ones in charge of the Stade de France money-wise (I think it's Bouygues and Co, the ones that build it) get monies from the town/government because there is no permanent club, so they are not too worried about the no club situation.
PSG is the only one that made it financially probably because they had money and were able to build a fan base by bringing well known players. They also were fortunate to stay in div 1 for so long.
ok, enough ranting :)

Racing have a much better shot of getting to the 1st divison than Red Star does at least RCF is in the 3rd division now while Red Star is in the DH. If Racing stays afloat in the National this year I think they could make it to the 1st division in 5 years time depending if they get a proper owner. They are gonna need a new stadium though eventually and I read where they maybe eventually build a 20,000 seat stadium with a hotel or something. I think it all ties into Paris getting the 2012 Olmypics. I have read that Creteil and Paris FC both have ambitions to move up.
