My Compaq Presario says that it doesn't want to start up. It gives me a couple of options like starting up in safe mode and starting up using the last configuration that was used when it was started up. I choose any of the 5-10 options and then it just freezes right away.

The computer is using XP as it's operating system and it is a little over a year old.

After completing the task of networking together two computers wirelessly, I upgraded the software on the system and then the computer asked me to restart. After restarting, the problem occured. Now, I'm going to just let it sit until tomorrow and see what I can do. Help would be greatly appreciated.

What software did you update? Was it the BIOS, the XP service pack?? Remove the wireless card and see if it will boot. If you flashed your BIOS you may be f'd.

Ouch. Sounds painful if you can't boot up using Safe Mode. Do you have the original XP cd-rom? Might be able to run a repair if you boot from the cd.

If Compaq only supplied XP in the form of a restore cd you might have to prepare yourself for the pain and frustration of wiping the disk an starting afresh.
