Manoj, Broich will indeed be on Gladbach's substitute bench.

We'd better get those freakin' three points tomorrow!

We need to forget about Wolfsburgh. And our strikers need to learn how to finish.

Unfortunately I wasn't able to watch the match (just caught the dying minutes). Seems to me that the defence sucked once again. Our strikers were deadly till 3-2. After that they fall back to Wolfsburg-style and missed several chances.

A draw would have been ok, I guess. Anyway...we needed the points and got them! :-D

Keith's Response: Manoj, I just read Chris Erb's assessment and some people not on our list have sent me information on the match. According to them, the defense completely sucked.

Worst players according to them were Bergdolmo, Evanilson and according to Chris Erb, Kehl was bad too.

Again, is our financial situation really so bad that we can't bring in another defender on a free transfer?

I think my son could have cleared the ball that Bergdolmo let get through him to Ulich for Gladbach's first goal!

When is Christian expected back? That could help at least a bit.

AFAIK he joins team training today (at least that were the news last Friday). If so and if there aren't any new complications with his Achilles' tendon, he will be available for the next BL match (in 2 weeks against Hanover at home).

I don't think the return of Christian Woerns alone will be the answer. It wasn't last season and it isn't now.

And it's as Manoj said, that's IF there are no more problems with Woerns' achilles tendon.

As far as I'm concerned, the bottom line is.......

We need to get someone better than Bergdolmo in NOW!

Bergdolmo cost us the Wolfsburg match with his piss-poor marking of Brdaric and cost us the first Gladbach goal on Saturday by letting a ball my son could have cleared get through him.

I'm wondering if BVB management really cannot take on another salary or if they are just saving all that money for Mark van Bommel.

Which still doesn't do jack-s#!t to help the defense!! We had the same thing last season with Frings!!

I agree totally, just think that (a healthy) Christian will help in our current state of emergency in the back. And I'll let Brdaric's first strike slide, that was pretty sound footwork.

Keith: who (defenders) would you like to see us (on our budget) pursue? Danke.

Keith's Response: Schumann, my main response is Tony Sanneh. Free transfer, BL experience, UEFA Cup experience, WORLD CUP experience and a hell of a lot faster and stronger on the ball than Bergdolmo ever will be.

Even at his age, he's still faster than anyone on the team besides Ewerthon, Odonkor and possibly Gambino. His back is healed and strong. I know this because I know the player.

No one in the league can out-jump Sanneh. We wouldn't need to send Koller back to defend corners anymore.

Before Sanneh, Manoj suggested Oumar Konde of SC Freiburg. He was available on a free transfer and much younger than Sanneh. Despite Sanneh being a friend of mine, I would have preferred Konde as he is Swiss and would not be another Non-UEFA player.

I don't have all my resources here at the office, but I'm sure I could find another defender or two available on a free transfer who are better than Bergdolmo or Madouni.

Sanneh would not be a permanent solution. But he's sure as hell better than what we have now and paired with the returning Woerns, they could definitely hold down the fort in our central defense until CMetz can return.

And even then, Tony can be moved out to either wing.

And, he wouldn't cost as much salary-wise as they are (over)paying Bergdolmo.

I tell everyone on my BVB list not to push names away unless they can provide alternatives.

Sanneh is my remaining major alternative in this case. And he's rumored to be in talks with Coventry City.

Is it really so bad that we cannot afford another salary?

I don't think so. I think we are just going to get Mark van Bommel instead of defensive help.

Maybe they'll try Sunday Oliseh in central defense then.

I think that would be worth a try too. There has to be some alternative to Andre Bergdolmo.

He's just horrible........

There's only one Borussia!
(Steve) After losing last week’s match against Wolfsburg BVB had the luck on their side this time and won the first away game of the season. This is even more remarkable if one considers Borussia’s bad away performances during the last two seasons.

This Saturday it was Borussia’s “honour “to inaugurate the new stadium of the Vfl Borussia Mönchengladbach, also known as “the wrong Borussia”. About 4,000 of Dortmund’s supporters followed their team, although the tickets were quite expensive (15 euros for the cheapest category available). But they had to manage several problems. The new stadium is located quite remote so can cannot simply walk from the station to the stadium as it used to be with Mönchengladbach’s old former home. The supporters had to use shuttle busses to reach the stadium, and especially the way back to the station after the game was very complicated. But, well, by then the fans would have something to celebrate that would make them forget about these problems.

Keith's Response: I've e-mailed the club many times about Sanneh. No response. When I brought it up on the e-mail list, my bringing up his name was largely ridiculed. Obviously BVB and many of it's fans still consider BVB "above" a player like Sanneh.

Meanwhile, we struggle with an obviously non-talented hack like Bergdolmo in central defense.

At times I believe many BVB fans and all of management still are living in the past.

When will management realize that Dortmund is no longer a "desired destination" for star players anymore and that's mainly THEIR FAULT?

More pressing, when will management realize that the answer to every problem is not to throw another "star name" at it.

I really thought Tony Sanneh or another player of his caliber and talent could help this BVB team.

On the list, I got chided by others suggesting I only named Sanneh because he's a friend.

However, only Manoj named an alternative.

We need to stop thinking "We're too good" for certain players.

It's players like Sanneh who got BVB to where it is in the first place.

I think somewhere along the line both the fans and managment have forgotten this fact.
