Hopefully if RKF does go the baseball route DC will have enough time to put something together.

Since they are looking at the Expos, they may not come to DC at all.
Portland and a group in Virgina are interested in moving the team there. There's even intrest from San Juan!

The "Virginia" group is essentially a DC group, as they're looking to have a DC team play in Northern Virginia ("NoVa"). NoVa is simply an extremely large conglomerate of DC suburbs.

Would the team represent Washington? The Senators? Considering that the Redskins play closer to Baltimore than Washington...

Yes. All press releases and interviews of the various backing groups, including several from Virginia, inidicate that the team would be for a Washington DC team, not a "Virginia" team. But the stadium would most likely be in Virginia or Maryland depending upon the winning group backing the proposals. They would play in RFK immediately until their stadium could be built. Of course, once a team was awarded to the market, DC could always make a bid to become the site for the new stadium, and I'm sure they would do so.

As long as Peter Angelos is alive, DC will NEVER see baseball.

Thats true. But sports fans in DC are doing well without baseball just like L.A. fans are doing well without football.
