sorry...i'm kind of a new at this MLS-thing, (usually more of a Europe fan) but i had a couple questions for anyone who knows:
i'm an SLC local. who's phsyched about the new-team!! i'm in my second year at WEstminster College and i see the MLS team coming as oportunity, so i was wondering what you guys would suggest doing... supposing i am mls-quality in a couple years... here's what i think:: keep playing at the highest levels, send letters or contact the coach and let him know i am interested, get him or someone there to come watch me play and give me a shot hopefully. there's a lot of gaps in this plan. this is how i would go about it to play for a college team, but i don't know about an MLS team, i dunno how things work here please help!!! should i try to play PDL to get more exposure???

sorry...

That's about the response you'll get from MLS as well with this attitude...This isn't 1986 anymore.

I'm not being sarcastic or mean when I say this, but I think you're underestimating the level of MLS. Quality division one college players routinely do nothing in the league and wind up in the A-League or nowhere at all. Of course, there are times where others from smaller colleges (like Westminster) go on to succeed.

Operating on the assumption that you can develope the skills to make the roster for an MLS side...

Being near an MLS team may help your cause, but try to get yourself into a more competitive environment than Westminster. Tryout for the Blitzz, if you do well there you have a much better chance (especially considering the pending jump to A-league) than you do coming out of a small college.
