Greece trailed 2-0 in this one...own goal by Loukas Vyntra (Panathiniakos) on 65 minutes. Greece completed the comeback with two goals in 5 minutes from Ioannis Taralidis (Olympiakos) and the lone Euro squad member Dimitris Papadopolous (Panathiniakos?). Final Greece 2 S. Korea 2.

WTF I thought the Olympics didn't start til Friday. :/
Did they tie 2-2 then, or did Greece win, or is this still going on...??

Ya, they started the U-23 + 3 overage tournie, ie the olympics, early to better give the players rest.

A couple of harsh decisions went against Korea (red card, equalizing penalty on a blatant dive), but we're in no position to blame the referees. These decisions cut both ways. We did well to tie with ten men. Good luck to Greece the rest of the way.

Check that. Maybe I don't wish the Greeks good luck. From Guardian:
South Korea were undone in Thessaloniki by a hotly disputed decision from Uruguayan referee Jorge Larrionda. Replays showed there had been virtually no contact between Choi and Mitrou.
Papadopoulos, one of the heroes of Greece's shock Euro 2004 triumph, had little sympathy for the Koreans.
"South Korea were extremely lucky to get the draw," he said. "We at least deserved the draw and now we have the chance to get to the next round."
Ah, who cares? Papadopoulos is probably just a little big-headed after his European Cup success.
lol
if anyone got lucky in that game, its greece..

Right... so refereeing must always be against Korea from now on.
It's just this tough playing against the home side.
In Euro 2004, plenty of calls went heavily in favor of Portugal. But largely people were silent (except in England lol). So it's okay if it's Portugal... it's okay if it's Brazil (in 2002 they got some pretty strange calls their way too) but if it's Greece, or if it's Korea, then it's not okay.

well, Greece hit the woodwork at least 3 times, knocked in a strange own goal and created many more dangerous chances.
what he really means to say is, "Korea is lucky that we are god-awful finishers."

maybe if korea had an extra guy playing, the match would have been more even. Two yellow cards in the 40th minute or soemthing...
